Thank you for visiting Save a Friend Dog Rescue! We are a group of volunteers based in Toronto, Canada and Bogota, Colombia. Thank you!

e of our locally based Salva un Amigo volunteers until they are flown to Canada to find their forever homes or adopted locally in Colombia. Our objective is to support efforts to find as many loving homes as possible for these wonderful pups in Colombia, as well as Canada. We also support efforts to care for and sterilize Colombian street dogs and cats, to raise awareness about the plight of street animals, and ultimately to promote the understanding that these animals are not second class pets - they deserve loving homes! We rely on a small network of foster homes in Colombia and Canada to save these dogs, and our dream is to build a facility in Colombia where we can care for them safely, provide medical care, and eventually adopt them out to loving families. Colombian high-kill shelters are not a safe place for these dogs, and life on the streets is often brutal and short: dogs are poisoned, hit by cars, beaten, and abused on a daily basis. If you are considering adopting from or donating to Save a Friend Dog Rescue please note that we are a registered not-for-profit organization in Ontario and therefore we take no profit or salary from any adoption fees or donations received. There are also no costs in Colombia for Salva un Amigo as they are also a not-for-profit staffed by volunteers. As we do not have any bricks and mortar shelter in Colombia or Canada we rely exclusively on foster homes to save dogs' lives. A gentle reminder from the City of Toronto that we share our urban spaces with others who belong here as well.

Coyotes are a natural part of Toronto's urban ecosystem. They use parks, ravines and green spaces throughout the city, and seeing one during the day or at night can be a normal part of living alongside urban wildlife. 🐾

At this time of year, young coyotes are becoming more independent and exploring beyond the areas where they were raised. Adult coyotes may also be protective of their family and encourage people or dogs to move away if they get too close.

Simple, everyday actions help keep people, pets and wildlife safe:
🐕 Keep dogs on leash, except in designated off leash areas
🚫 Never feed wildlife
🗑 Secure garbage and dispose of food waste properly

If a coyote approaches people or pets, or appears sick or injured, contact 311.
