We are at in Bogotá and have presented our work facilitating comprehensive sexuality education programs at local schools in Colombia.
These are some of the questions we received:
- Do you receive resistance from the families? We have had very good response from the families at the events. The playful approach with dynamic activities has shown great results since 91% finds the information useful and 93% finds it easy to use afterwards. We have even implemented with families at religious schools.
- How do you enter the schools? We have established good relationships with our partner schools and they see the impact in their students. How we present the programs has been key to establishing new partnerships as well as word of mouth within the communities.
Our experience shows that when S&RHR education programs are taught comprehensively, it promotes safer and more respectful environments. It encourages bodily autonomy, dialogue between families and schools, and contributes to the prevention of violence. Its sustained implementation is key to transforming educational and social dynamics towards equity and the well-being of children and young people.
