We are heartbroken about the passing of Guillermo Giraldo, leader of our affiliate UGTI in Colombia. Guillermo was a precious and valuable member of the StreetNet family, who for two years had the responsability to coordinate the Americas Regional Focal Point.

Guillermo was one of those rare leaders who worked to develop new leaders, empower leadership, and build the organisation’s future, often stepping down from his own leadership role to make way for other comrades, often youth and women.

He made an enormous contribution to the development of our regional work, unity and solidarity.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and comrades during this difficult time. Let us mourn but also celebrate the legacy of Guillermo. Rest in Power, compañero!
