We have had a really hard time reaching the youth and older Embera kids. Many don’t go to school and because of where they live they get sucked into the drug scene and find themselves hopeless and without motivation or much to live for honestly. We have been praying and thinking how to serve them in some way!! We’ll finally- we have started a new soccer program with the youth and kids of Casa Embera that is in partnership with a local program! They train at our neighborhood soccer field! The kids are super excited and motivated! Our desire is to help the kids have something to train and work towards and soccer is something they love and they are so proud to be a part of something like this! The dream is to form an Embera Team! So many valuable skills are taught through sports like self control, perseverance, discipline! The soccer program is faith based and has been in our neighborhood for years and they do a great job! But they haven’t had Embera kids be a part before!! We need resources to pay the instructors! If u desire to give or donate we would love to partner with you to make this happen!! Corporación Sueños y Huellas

Today we had a beautiful time of prayer for our Embera Families! Praying for peace in their communities for their families and for the foundation to be a place of hope for the Embera! We are all still mourning the loss of our indigenous leader. Praying for them as they mourn. Corporación Sueños y Huellas

We are súper grateful for all of our volunteers!! But today I want to give thanks to Susanna who is a volunteer who works in health care and is helping us plan and teach the Health and Hygiene classes and do house visits! This week they have been learning how to properly clean bottles to prevent infection and in the house visits they checked for signs of respiratory distress as flu is running rampant in the inquilinatos- as we encourage those with sick babies to seek medical attention in nearby hospitals. We are so grateful for Susanna and her heart to serve, her dedication, and love for the Embera people. Susanna helped us for over two years with an Embera family that had a disabled son, she would visit them weekly and provide physical therapy and encouragement to the family. Thankful for how God brings us people with special gifts and callings that can help us serve the displaced indigenous families of Medellin! Corporación Sueños y Huellas

Today we are mourning the loss of one of our dear friends. He was the first man of peace to receive us and invite us to his community. He has been threatened for years by armed groups and today they mu*dered him. We pray for his family, for his entire village and for peace to reign on earth and in their hearts. I will never forget one day we got a phone call from him after a sui*ide in his village and you could hear mourning in the background and he asked us if their was a pill that takes away sadness. That his village needed a medicine to take away their sadness. Today is another sad day for them- as they all call us and are crying! As a Christian- my hope is in Christ! That there is hope after death. That mourning and pain and sadness and injustice will end. Praying for the prince of peace to surround them all today and in the days to come!

Most of our work is not done in the “office” or behind a screen or even in our ministry house. Much of our work is done in the homes and the streets where our people live. We do house visits several times a week, to check on families and meet new families and see the real needs. You never know what will happen on any given day. Sometimes it’s a prayer for a sick or grieving person, sometimes it’s an encouraging word or a plea to take their child to the hospital or for a child to go to school! Sometimes it’s just to sit in the hard and listen to the hurting. One of our mentors said real ministry takes place in the mud puddles of humanity. It’s messy and uncomfortable and lots of times inconvenient. But that’s where the needs are. My encouragement to you today is to seek those who are hurting around you- see how you can bless or encourage someone today! Corporación Sueños y Huellas

This was such a sweet moment I caught! This mom was so proud to introduce me to her son- because her son had been taken away by child protective services when he was a little baby and was given back to her two weeks ago and now he is 2. In my head I was thinking of how traumatic that experience must have been for them both and wondering to myself if it affected their bond and then I saw them snuggling and loving on each other and I thought how powerful the bond from a Mother’s love is. Pretty special to witness.
