Meet Andrea, Founder of Origin + Culture ✨

Born and raised in Miami to Colombian parents, Andrea’s journey has taken her from serving 12 years in the Marine Corps to being a social justice advocate and uplifting Black communities. Her experiences, deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, embassy duty across the world, and activism in the U.S., shaped her understanding of systemic inequities and the power of unity across the global Black diaspora.

Andrea founded Origin + Culture alongside Juan David Arias to build a bridge between cultures, amplify Afro-Colombian voices, and create opportunities for language learning, travel, and cultural exchange. Through her work, she is committed to celebrating and preserving the rich traditions of Afro-Colombian communities while fostering global solidarity. 💛

Meet Juan David, Founder of Origin + Culture ✨

Born in Apartadó and raised in Turbo, Juan has always been deeply connected to his Afro-Colombian roots. With a background in Systems Engineering and over 15 years in the banking sector, he brings strategic leadership and a passion for culture, entrepreneurship, and community empowerment.

In 2019, he co-founded O+C alongside Andrea to create opportunities for Afro-Colombian communities through cultural exchange, economic empowerment, and storytelling. From mentoring entrepreneurs to strengthening diaspora connections, Juan is dedicated to uplifting Black communities in Colombia and beyond.
