Wow!! We just had 6 birth families from Fengcheng, Jiangxi, match to their missing daughters!!! 🤯 All of these families were referred to us from a birth family search our Search Partner, Wendy, recently conducted for an adoptee. This batch of families really surprised us! We have already connected with some of these adoptees, but we are still waiting on the rest to read and respond to our private messages on 23andMe. If you know someone from Fengcheng born in 2005, please ask them to check their 23andMe account! Congratulations to everyone involved. 🎊

Two Chinese adoptees have surprised DNA matched to their birth families from Xiaogan in Hubei province. Please join us in congratulating them! 🎊

These birth families were located during another adoptee’s search with our Search Partner, Wendy. We hope this adoptee will find her birth family soon too, and we are glad she put her trust in Nanchang Project which allowed her search to help other adoptees and families. ❤️

Congratulations to an adoptee from Yulin, Shaanxi, who found their birth family through an in-person search with our Search Partner, Michael Zhu! This adoptee requested a Search Partner referral through Nanchang Project. During their search, they obtained lots of media coverage from official outlets and our partnered social media influencer, Jun. The adoptee’s birth family saw the search, came forward, and submitted a DNA sample, which matched! Congratulations to all. 🎊

Trip update! We’re excited to share the cities we’ll be visiting for our Spring 2027 Jiangxi search: Fuzhou, Shangrao, and Xinyu + Yichun!!! For two weeks, Nanchang Project Trip Leaders and Jiangxi Adoptee Ambassadors will search alongside NCPT Search Partners—educating locals about international adoption, following leads, and DNA testing birth families—on behalf of all Jiangxi adoptees. If you’re from Jiangxi, you’re invited to join our search posters and gain access to an exclusive group chat with live updates from the ground. New this year, we also provide mailing support for North American adoptees who want to register with two Chinese DNA databases.

**Many children were sent to the big orphanage in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi, for their adoption. If you were adopted from Nanchang, it is in your best interest to check your abandonment/adoption documents to verify if you were actually “found” in Nanchang or originated outside of this major city. Group poster arrangements are made based on where adoptees are reportedly FOUND, not adopted from.

Congratulations to Grace on finding her birth family!!! Grace had been actively searching since 2014 and her story is rather complex. She had been found at the Nanjing Railway Station in September 1998, along with a baby boy about 2 months younger. The police report said the two babies were found abandoned on the train platform. Just last year, Grace sent her DNA to 23mofang and her ancestral analysis pointed to Yongjia, Wenzhou, Zhejiang as the location of her extended family.

Grace returned to China last fall with Nanchang Project’s Search Partner, Michael Zhu, and social media helper Jun. They posted Douyin videos from Nanjing and Wenzhou, but her family was not found. However, this spring, a volunteer from the Taizhou Huangjiao Road Family Search Team posted a new video of Grace...

Her maternal uncle happened to see it, and told his sister that he thought Grace might be her missing daughter. She had a baby in the spring of 1998 and 4-5 months later took a train trip with the baby and a neighbor’s baby son. The birth mother said that in Nanjing, the railway police suspected her of trafficking. Since Grace was born at home, the mother didn’t have a birth certificate to prove Grace was her daughter, so the police took both babies away and declared on the finding documents that they were abandoned.

After seeing the first video, the birth family searched for additional videos and found the ones from last September’s trip, then they contacted Jun and Michael. The family was referred to Nanchang Project for DNA testing and also tested independently with 23mofang. Last week the match was confirmed!

Grace has three sisters: two older and one younger. They are now all in a group chat that the sisters titled “We Are Family.”

We wish Grace and her families the best moving forward as they navigate these new relationships. ❤️

We are also hoping to connect with the birth family of the little boy who was taken away with Grace—hopefully we can help reunite them as there is a strong possibility he was also adopted internationally from Nanjing.

Half a year after finding her birth family in China through DNA testing, Anna flew to Yueyang, Hunan, to meet them! Her family gave her the red carpet treatment with welcome home banners, confetti, a flower crown, and—quite literally, a red carpet!! These moments are so special. We’re happy they have the chance to reconnect!

Nanchang Project sponsored a DNA test for Anna’s birth mother last year, and she waited patiently until her daughter unexpectedly matched with her in April this year! After 25 years of separation, there are no more years left wondering... only time ahead to spend together. ❤️

DNA match for a Zhejiang adoptee involving the National Reunion/Police Database (NRPD), 23mofang, and a local volunteer search group in Yiwu! ❤️

Earlier this year, an adoptee used our free assistance program to register her blood sample with our partnered police officer. The officer helped her submit her DNA to 23mofang with the help of Yiwu volunteers. Through 23mofang, a 128 cM match was found and followed up on. The potential birth parents were identified, tested, and the match was confirmed in the NRPD by the original police officer assigned to this adoptee’s case!

Congratulations to this adoptee!! 🥳

The volunteer group in Yiwu would like to help more adoptees from Zhejiang province. Through Nanchang Project’s help, adoptees from Zhejiang can send a blood sample to this charity and get registered in 23mofang for free. The Yiwu charity will manage the kit and investigate any leads found through this DNA test.

They have already done a lot of outreach and testing through 23mofang within communities across Zhejiang province and have successfully reunited dozens of people. Zhejiang adoptees may consider this as another option for their search.
