On 19 April 2026, the thematic session titled "Transforming Education in the Digital Era: Professional Development & Gender-inclusive Leadership in Egypt", hosted by the IIOE Egypt National Centre, was held in Cairo during the 14th Annual Ain Shams University International Conference. The session was attended by Prof. Ramy Maher Ghaly, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs of Ain Shams University; Prof. Mona Hagras, Deputy Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Universities of Egypt; and Eng. Amr El-Masry, Director of Education at Microsoft North Africa, among other distinguished guests.

Prof. JIN Li, Director of UNESCO-ICHEI, delivered video remarks. Mr. Zian Cao, Chief of the IIOE Management Centre, attended the session and delivered a keynote presentation. Representatives from the Embassy of China in Egypt, the UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo, as well as university faculty members and industry representatives from Egypt and across the Arab region, attended the session.

On April 9, 2026, the International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-ICHEI) and the Shenzhen Cross-Border E-Commerce Association (SZCECA) officially signed a Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement at the Convention Centre of Southern University of Science and Technology.

The two parties engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including "AI + Cross-border E-commerce" talent cultivation, curriculum system development, expert resource integration, curriculum localization, and the construction of training centre, reaching multiple areas of cooperation.

On 28 March 2026, the inauguration ceremony of the IIOE France Training Centre was held in Brest, France. The Centre was jointly established by the International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-ICHEI) and Brest Business School. Following the establishment of IIOE Training Centres in Hong Kong and Singapore, this is the third IIOE Training Centre worldwide and its first in Europe. It aims to leverage the industrial advantages and high-quality resources of developed countries to create branded training programmes, promoting local talent development, serving industrial growth while empowering IIOE's global network members.

High-ranking representatives from the French political and business sectors were invited to attend the inauguration ceremony, including Mr. Jacques Le Failler, President of Chamber of Commerce and Industry Brest (CCI Brest); Mr. Jean-Christophe Cagnard, President of Movement of the Enterprises of French (MEDEF) Finistère; Mr. Denis Le Saint, President of Réseau Le Saint, France's second-largest fruit and vegetable distributor; and Mr. Clément Quéguiner, President of Groupe Quéguiner, the largest building materials enterprise in Brittany, France.

From 31 March to 2 April 2026, UNESCO-ICHEI presented at the Asia-Pacific Regional Forum on Teachers: Elevate, Support and Invest in the Teaching Profession, co-organized by UNESCO Bangkok and Education International Asia-Pacific.

During the Forum, Ms. Xin Yuan presented in the Plenary Session 3: Teachers Cannot Be Coded: Exploring the Teaching Profession in an Age of Digital Technologies and the Rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI). She shared UNESCO-ICHEI’s experience in fostering digital transformation in higher education through the International Institute of Online Education (IIOE), highlighting approaches such as micro-certification courses and public-private partnerships.

She emphasized that teachers play an increasingly critical role in guiding students to uphold ethical use of AI-generated content, and design meaningful and interactive learning experiences.
