This month we are proud to feature The José Sulaiman Charitable Fund. It is open to all retired boxers, and we thank WBC VP Alberto Leon for his efforts on its behalf.
The WBC José Sulaimán Boxers Fund (the “Fund”) offers grants to retired boxers in need, including basic necessities such as medical care and medications not covered by insurance, medical devices, housing, transportation, food, and funeral expenses. The Nevada Community Foundation administers the Fund, and the WBC does not receive or manage any of the monetary aspects of the Fund. The Fund makes award payments directly to the entities that provide goods or services to the Fund grant recipients.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month:

We’ve all been through a lot this year. And one issue that continues to make headlines? Our mental health. Specifically, the effect of COVID-19 and all that comes with it – vaccinations, quarantining, working from home, disrupted schedules, lack of social interaction, and more.

Now is a good time to pause and reflect. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, so we want to make sure we recognize a difficult truth: Nearly one in five Americans lives with a mental health condition.

WBC CARES China had a very special visit to Heart 2 Heart.

Heart to Heart is a special fund of Ren De Foundation. They are a Shanghai-based charity that provides corrective surgery for Chinese children from all over China with congenital heart disease (CHD) whose parents are unable to afford the surgery. To date, H2H has sponsored over 2,003 children for heart surgery. The surgeries not only saved their lives but transformed the lives of their families.
Heart to Heart is proud of the fact that we are and always have been a 100% volunteer organization. We have no paid employees. We also have a $0 operating budget which means that 100% of donations are spent for surgeries. Sponsors are given documentation on where their donations were spent and can also visit the children while the children are in the hospital for their surgery. Sponsoring a child is a truly moving experience.
