💡 WAITRO President Fosters Innovation Ties in Nanjing, China

Prof. Hasan Mandal, Rector of İTÜ , WAITRO President, recently concluded a visit to Nanjing, China.

🔹 A key meeting with the host of WAITRO Secretariat---Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute (JITRI) focused on aligning missions to drive applied research and industry-led solutions.

🔹 Prof. Mandal met with the WAITRO Secretariat for strategic planning of WAITRO initiatives including the WAITRO Summit 2026, which will be held in .

🔹 He has visited JITRI Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Research Institute (IIMT ROBOT) in Nanjing & Shanghai Robot Industrial Technology Research Institute.

🔹 During his stay in China, Prof. Mandal was also honored with an Honorary Professorship by the Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), reinforcing vital academic bonds.

🇱🇰 WAITRO Representation at GETS2025 Sri Lanka to Strengthen South Asian & Global Collaboration 💡

Nov 10-12, 2025 - WAITRO Secretary General Dr. Benjin Luo visited Sri Lanka to foster international partnerships in research, technology, and innovation.

Highlights of the Sri Lanka visit:
🔹 WAITRO SG delivered a keynote speech at the 2025 Global Economic & Technology Summit (GETS) on "Industry 4.0 and Beyond"

Dr. Luo highlighted that
“China has set a strong example over the past decade, especially in the Yangtze River Delta region. Efforts have been focused on automation, digitalization, and enhancing production efficiency. Looking ahead, leveraging AI will be crucial in driving high-quality, green, and sustainable development. The future of growth must be fueled by innovation and sustainability.”

Ms. Yucheng Hang, WAITRO Program Support, took the opportunity to share insights on overseas cooperation with a speech titled “NICE and WAITRO: A Better Future through Shared Innovation”

🔹 National Science Week
WAITRO representatives participated in the session “Role of Science Diplomacy in Informed Decision Making at the Science-Policy Interface”. WAITRO SG joined the panel discussion “Untapped Potential of Soft Power and Cooperation to Enhance Scientific Partnerships for National Development Goals”. A question was addressed to WAITRO on how to balance national development priorities with global sustainability missions.

Dr. Luo responded, "A key part of this mission is to foster an open and collaborative innovation network. WAITRO embodies a core commitment to uniting innovation players worldwide."

🔹 Engagement with Sri Lankan RTOs at Industrial Technology Institute, a long-standing WAITRO member.

🔹 Joined a virtual meeting between its leading member TÜBİTAK & the Sri Lankan Ministry of Science & Technology, supporting the mutually beneficial strategic partnership between the two parties.

🔹 Held high-level meetings with National Institute of Fundamental Studies & visited the Faculty of Science at University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka’s oldest university, engaging in discussions with the leadership.

🤝 Visit to Sri Lanka underscores WAITRO’s commitment to advancing global knowledge sharing, capacity building, and sustainable development through science & technology, especially in bridging research institutions with collaboration, industrialization, & commercialization opportunities.
