From its beginning in 2015, the MECC EuroExcellence Awards (“The Awards”) have celebrated local leaders across the categories of Luxury, Food and Beverage, Blue & Green Innovation and Greater Bay Area Sino-Euro Cooperation. Last year, we introduced the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) category. These honours support our mission to advance Macau’s sustainable development, foster global business networks, and strengthen the city’s role as a unique hub bridging Chinese and Western cultures.

In response to modern businesses expanding across multiple sectors, and to further enhance the prestige of the Awards, MECC has optimised its structure for 2026 Awards by transitioning from industry-specific categories to two comprehensive, achievement-based awards:
⭐️ MECC Euro-Macau Excellence Award
⭐️ MECC Euro-Macau Rising Star Award (for SMEs)

This strategic enhancement allows for a more holistic evaluation of cross-market operations, strategic excellence, and tangible contributions to Europe-Macau connectivity.

Successful applicants / nominees of the Awards will be invited, with at least one week’s notice, to attend the Awards Ceremony at the MECC Anniversary Cocktail Reception on 24 November 2026.

✈️ Boarding for a special cause! Representatives from the Macau European Chamber of Commerce (MECC) and France Macau Chamber of Commerce (FMCC) were honoured to join an exclusive Goodwill Tour hosted by Orbis Macau 澳門奧比斯辦事處 on board the iconic Flying Eye Hospital. The tour offered a rare behind-the-scenes look at the aircraft to highlight the power of sustainable medical training and deepen community awareness on ending avoidable blindness.

The world’s only mobile teaching hospital inside an MD-10 aircraft, the Flying Eye Hospital features a 46-seat classroom with 3D surgical streaming, an operating room, and an advanced VR simulation centre. Marking 20 years of partnership in Macau, this year's program also hosts Macau's first-ever clinical training project for eye care professionals from across China. The visit wrapped up at the Orbis exhibition at Taipa Ferry Terminal, which engages the public on the vital importance of eye health.

The Macau European Chamber of Commerce (MECC) was honoured to attend the opening ceremony of the “Heroic Souls Cast in the Vast Sky — Exhibition on the Historical Facts of Aviation during the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (Macao Tour)” on 2 September 2026.

Featuring over 200 historical photographs and documents, the compelling exhibition was hosted at the Complex of Commerce and Trade Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Forum Macao) through 7 September.

The Macau European Chamber of Commerce (MECC) was honoured to attend the 70th Anniversary Grand Reception of the Macau Artist Society (MAS) on 29 August 2026. The milestone gathering brought together government officials, community leaders, and creative figures to honour seven decades of MFS’s contributions to nurturing local talent and enhancing Macau’s vibrant art scene. We extend our warmest congratulations to MAS on this remarkable occasion!

Coinciding with this milestone, the "Art in the New Era" 70th Anniversary Invitational Exhibition was unveiled at the Sands Macao 4th Floor Ballroom. Featuring nearly 200 works by artists from Macau, mainland China, and overseas, the exhibition is open to the public daily through 15 September. Art serves as a vital bridge for cross-cultural dialogue, and MECC remains dedicated to supporting local creative endeavours that connect Macau to the global artistic community!

It is with deep sadness that the Macau European Chamber of Commerce mourns the sudden passing of Professor Kevin (Kit) Thompson, our former President (2017–2019).

Kit was a dear friend and a dedicated leader whose vision, energy and generosity strengthened our Chamber and the ties between Macau and Europe. His remarkable contributions to arts, culture and education—in the UK, Hong Kong and Macau—will be long remembered.

Our heartfelt condolences go to his wife Patricia, his family, friends, students and all whose lives he touched.

The Macau ESG Awards 2026: Application Now Open

Our National Chamber Member, the France Macau Chamber of Commerce (FMCC), is pleased to announce the 4th edition of the Macau ESG Awards, recognising companies and organisations that are making a positive contribution to sustainable and responsible business practices in Macau and Hengqin.

We invite eligible organisations to submit their ESG initiatives for consideration, and we also welcome companies interested in supporting this important initiative through sponsorship.

On 22 August, 2026, the "A Glimpse of Chinese Culture" exhibition officially opened its doors at Porto’s iconic São Bento Metro Station. The inauguration event brought together community leaders, including Jorge Valente, president of the Macao Sino-Luso Friendship and Cultural Exchange Association and Echo Chan, president of the Macau European Chamber of Commerce (MECC). This milestone gathering marks a fresh chapter for the landmark project, celebrating a robust three-year editorial partnership between Portugal’s Diário de Notícias and the 澳門日報-Macao Daily News.

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the Macao Sino-Luso Friendship and Cultural Exchange Association, and beautifully curated by Sara Neves, the exhibition transforms one of Porto’s busiest travel hubs into a vibrant cultural crossroads. The display brings to life a joint weekly column published since September 2023, weaving together compelling stories, traditions, and historic ties. Through unique textile installations that echo the history of Chinese silks and the sails of Portuguese ships, passersby are invited to stop, learn, and discover the deep-rooted intercultural dialogue connecting Portugal, Macau, and China.

The exhibition is open daily with free admission until September 12, 2026.
