Reading is not only an escape. It helps us see a little clearer, speak a little better, and grow a little more.

So let’s turn the page.

As part of our annual Book Night tradition in April, inspired by World Reading Day, PAG gathered for an evening where stories came alive beyond the page. Meeting Manager Lyfee opened with the theme “A Healthy Form of Escapism,” drawing from the classic The Remains of the Day, a story about sacrificing happiness for professional devotion.

TME Sandy brought a personal touch, sharing how The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs once captivated her back in Grade 2 and opened the door to a whole new world. Throughout the meeting, she wove in literary quotes to guide the flow, linking each segment like chapters in a story.

In the Prepared Speech session, Herbert introduced the idea of “compressed knowledge,” comparing reading to using a camera instead of a video, capturing what matters instead of everything. May followed with “The Information Diet,” reminding us that what we read feeds the mind, and like food, balance shapes how we grow.

During Guest Introduction, Tiffany shared insights from What’s Your Dream?, inviting us to reflect a little deeper on our goals and values. In Table Topics, Pedro explored the idea of wants versus needs, bringing everyday decisions into sharper focus.

The Imagination session added a little colour to the night, with creative responses that stretched ideas beyond the ordinary and reminded us that thinking differently is part of learning.

In the Evaluation segment, Alex and Miracle offered thoughtful and constructive feedback, while Timer Terry shared a perspective from Think Again, encouraging us to question a little more and assume a little less.

General Evaluator Stephanie wrapped up with clear insights, and Janessa closed with a reflection inspired by The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck, reminding us to care a little less about noise, and a little more about what truly matters.

🏆 Best Table Topics: Terry & Claudia

A night that helped us read a little deeper, think a little wider, and grow a little stronger.

Capture the Moment 📸

Not every moment lasts, but the right words, like the right photo, can make it timeless.

On Mar 25, PAG gathered for a dynamic “Capture the Moment” meeting, where communication met creativity. Like a well-timed shutter, Meeting Manager Terry kicked things off right on time, setting the focus and framing a smooth, well-organised evening.

Our TME Tina guided us through the session with confidence, keeping everything in sharp focus, while Word Master Miracle challenged us to “frame” 🖼️ our thoughts clearly and effectively.

In Prepared Speeches, Vicky and Pedro set a high bar. Vicky’s “Focus on What’s Matter” reminded us to adjust our focus on what truly counts, while Pedro’s “The Sound of One Hand Clapping” invited us to reflect from a different angle, proving that perspective shapes meaning. Together, their speeches showed how powerful communication can shift the way we see our world.

The highlight of the evening was the photography workshop led by our “Photo Master” Terry. Through practical tips and live sharing, he showed us how to work with light, angle, and timing to create photos that truly pop, which is to capture not only with technique, but with joy.

In Evaluation, Stephanie zoomed in on Vicky’s delivery with practical suggestions, even demonstrating how movement can enhance presence. Sandy framed Pedro’s speech within a broader Toastmasters context, helping us see deeper meaning and direction.

During FacilitatorsReport, Grammarian Janessa reminded us to articulate clearly because every word deserves to be heard in full clarity. Hark Master Alex kept the energy high with engaging questions, while Timer Stephanie ensured the meeting stayed perfectly on track. Finally, General Evaluator Herbert brought everything into focus with a clear and structured wrap-up.

A well-paced and engaging meeting that truly lived up to its theme, because capturing is not just about moments, but ideas, growth, and connection.

Women’s Day

Strong voices. Shared stories. A night to celebrate, empower, and be heard.

On March 11, PAG gathered for a special Women’s Day meeting filled with energy, laughter, and meaningful reflections. Meeting Manager Tiffany set the tone with a creative dress code:❤️ red for courage, 💙 blue for trust, and 💜 purple for dignity. This definition brought colour and purpose into the room.

Our TME Stephanie guided the evening with confidence and energy, while VPE Pedro introduced PAG and warmly welcomed our guests. Adding a touch of humour, JokeMaster Miracle had the room laughing with witty Women’s Day jokes and personal stories.

In Prepared Speeches, Holly’s “Smart Learning” reminded us of the power of goal-setting, active recall, and consistent practice. Herbert followed with his humorous speech “Woman without her man is nothing,” cleverly showing how punctuation can completely change meaning, as well, delivering a powerful message “equal but not the same” through interaction and practice.

The energy continued as guests were invited on stage, followed by our Spotlight Storyteller Lyfee, who introduced a new role and shared the inspiring journey of Dame Lucie Rie, highlighting resilience, passion, and dedication in her pottery career.

In TableTopics, Tiffany led an engaging session on themes of equality, empowerment, and women’s voices, inviting both members and guests to think and speak from the heart.

During Evaluation, Terry and special guest from Hong Kong, Bharat, provided thoughtful and constructive feedback, while BodyMaestro Tina shared practical tips on stage presence and movement. GeneralEvaluator Janessa wrapped up with a clear and insightful summary.

A big shout out to our youngest facilitator, Jun! He ensured the meeting ran smoothly as a timer.

Time Management Workshop
Our meeting on Feb 25 kicked off with an engaging session led by our TME Ida. She was followed by our Word Master, Vicky, who introduced the word “judicious”, a fitting term for the thoughtful discussions that followed.

We then welcomed two new members, May and Vicky, during a heartwarming New Member Induction led by our Club President, Janessa.

In the Prepared Speech segment, Luke delivered a compelling speech titled “How to Overcome a Tough Problem,” sharing his personal journey through disappointment and resilience. Next, Stephanie entertained us with her humorous speech “Professional Procrastinator,” proving that even procrastination can make a great story.

The energy remained high as Alex led an interactive workshop on Time Management, introducing the four levels of urgency and helping us better prioritise our tasks.

During the Evaluation session, Tiffany and Lyfee provided thoughtful and constructive feedback. Our Grammarian, Sandy, offered useful language insights, while our Harkmaster, Holly, kept the audience engaged with fun questions, laughter, and even sweets for those paying close attention!

A special shout-out to our youngest and first-time Timers, Jun and Alfred, who ensured the meeting ran smoothly and on schedule. Finally, our General Evaluator, Miracle, wrapped up the evening with a thoughtful summary of the key learnings.

A big thank you to all our speakers, role-takers, and guests for making this meeting a memorable one. See you at the next one!
