🐂 From the mountains to the pampas — the journey continues!
Mountain Futures' Professor Xu Jianchu has arrived in Uruguay, the "Beef Capital of the World," where endless green grasslands meet endless skies. 🌾✨
Here on the vast Pampas — South America's temperate savanna — the legendary Gauchos, Uruguay's cowboys, still ride free. Horsemen and herders at heart, they live with the open range as their neighbor, tending cattle and horses across a landscape they have safeguarded for generations. 🐎
Beyond the mountains lies another code of pastoral wisdom: how centuries of grassland stewardship, animal husbandry, and deep-rooted ranching culture can inspire sustainable livestock economies worldwide.
From Yunnan's highlands to Uruguay's pampas, the search for the blueprint of sustainable farming and rangeland management never stops. The mountains teach us; the plains remind us — people and pasture thrive together. 🌍

🔬 On a Mission: Unlocking Fungal Secrets in the Savanna!
Our Mountain Futures team is on the move, traveling through Yuanjiang, Honghe, and Jinggu (Pu’er) in Yunnan! 🚐🌿
We are deep in the field collecting samples to study Microfungi within the unique Savanna ecosystem. From wild landscapes to local orchards, we gathered mango and banana samples to investigate the fungi associated with these vital economic plants. 🍌🥭
Our focus? Identifying saprobic, endophytic, and pathogenic fungi on these hosts. Every sample brings us closer to understanding the complex microbial world that drives ecosystem health and agriculture! 🧪✨
