🔬 On a Mission: Unlocking Fungal Secrets in the Savanna!
Our Mountain Futures team is on the move, traveling through Yuanjiang, Honghe, and Jinggu (Pu’er) in Yunnan! 🚐🌿
We are deep in the field collecting samples to study Microfungi within the unique Savanna ecosystem. From wild landscapes to local orchards, we gathered mango and banana samples to investigate the fungi associated with these vital economic plants. 🍌🥭
Our focus? Identifying saprobic, endophytic, and pathogenic fungi on these hosts. Every sample brings us closer to understanding the complex microbial world that drives ecosystem health and agriculture! 🧪✨

Today, the Mountain Futures Summer School marveled at the Hani Rice Terraces, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a masterpiece of ancient agricultural wisdom! 🏞️✨
Our researchers explored how this 1,300-year-old system functions as a perfect model of Circular Agriculture—integrating water, forests, villages, and terraces in a harmonious cycle. 🔄💧
Beyond the crops, we analyzed the booming Landscape Leisure Economy, seeing how stunning scenery transforms into sustainable livelihoods for local communities. 🚜💰

Next stop: the legendary Dounan Flower Market—the heart of the global flower trade! We witnessed the sheer scale and speed of the floriculture value chain, seeing how blooms travel from fields to vases worldwide. 🌍✨
Mapping these chains from soil to shelf, our scholars are uncovering the circular flows that drive sustainable bioeconomies. 📊♻️
