From May 9 to 11, Hangzhou Hubin in77 successively performed Kunqu Opera "Crimson Splendor of the Golden Age", "Peony Pavilion" and Excerpts from Chinese Music Drama "Garden of Origins", presenting a cultural feast of tradition and modernity to the citizens with an immersive experience of three nights and three plays. The performance interpreted cultural heritage in an innovative way and received rave reviews from online and offline audiences.
1. Crimson Splendor of the Golden Age: A New Chapter of Kunqu Opera
The Kun Opera "Crimson Splendor of the Golden Age" reconstructs the epic of women in the Tang Dynasty from the perspective of two female protagonists, kicking off the curtain. As a benchmark for the innovation of "Youth Opera" in Zhejiang Province, the play interprets the love in troubled times with resplendent costumes, vibrant hues and water-polished melodies. The first excerpt "Mending the Ball" was performed at the Corridor Bridge this time.
2. The Interrupted Dream in the Garden: A timeless classic
The classic Kunqu opera "The Peony Pavilion: the Interrupted Dream in the Garden" was staged again. The actors reproduced the deep love and nature of Du Liniang and Liu Mengmei with delicate movements and singing, and the century-old classic was reborn on the lakeside bridge.
3. The Sprit of Lingnan and Chinese music breaks boundaries
Garden of Origins is based on the friendship between Zhang Jingxiu, the owner of Ke Garden in Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, and the founder of the Lingnan School of Painting, creating a new form of "Chinese music drama". Dongguan Cultural Center has assembled a non-professional team, integrated eleven modern forms of national musical instruments, combined with music, dance, calligraphy and painting and other different types of art, and presented the millennium echo of Lingnan culture across borders.
Although the three nights of splendor has come to an end, the pace of innovation in traditional art will never stop. This cultural handshake across time and space has confirmed the infinite possibilities of innovative development of China's excellent traditional culture. Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Center will continue to promote the "breakthrough" growth of China's excellent traditional culture with cross-border power and youthful attitude, and invite you to look forward to the next encounter across time and space.

At night, thousands of lanterns are set off in Nanhu, floating on the water, with exquisite light and shadow, as beautiful as a fairyland. On the evening of May 10, the Zhejiang University Band Special Performance, " Art & Beauty, Youth & Passion – Such a University sound", hosted by Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Center and supported by Hangzhou Gongshu District Cultural, Commercial and Tourism Group, kicked off at Wulin Square( a famous landmark in Hangzhou)! The event not only showcased the artistic style of college students, but also presented the most touching city confession for Mother's Day in the form of "Songs for Flowers".
1.Notes leap in Wulin, Youth ignites the heartbeats of the city
At 19:00 at Wulin Square, the evening breeze carried notes and enthusiasm. The "sound" force from Zhejiang University - Normani Band and Nautilus Platform Band, broke the dimensional wall with diverse music styles and set off a wave of music that transcended language and style.
The Normani band opened the show with the lively and lovely CityPop. The adapted songs were full of ingenuity and the stage arrangement fully demonstrated the vitality and creativity of the campus band.
The Nautilus Platform Band conquered the audience with the delicate melody of JPOP. The interweaving of guitar, keyboard and drum beats seemed to turn the urban night color spectrum into poetry.
The square was packed with spectators, the whole audience swayed to the rhythm, applause and cheers rose and fell, interpreting the vibrant vitality of "Art & Beauty".
2. Songs for flowers: 60 carnations, 60 pieces of urban warmth
As the performance drew to a close, a carefully planned "Songs for Flowers" Mother's Day special segment let warmth instantly permeate the entire venue. 60 carnations were waiting for the audience, and they only needed to go on stage and sing a song for their mothers to take this love away.
On a night of music and flowers, strangers resonated with each other over the common topic of "mother". The literary and artistic beauty of the city was quietly sublimated in the sincere expressions of ordinary people.
3. Art & Beauty: Let art take root in the streets and make the city warmer
As an innovative practice of the "Art & Beauty" project, this event not only provided a stage for college students to showcase their talents, but also integrated cultural services into urban public spaces through the form of "music + interaction", allowing art to truly enter the lives of citizens and become a bond that conveys the warmth of the city and unites family ties. In the future, we will continue to create more "zero threshold, high quality, and warm" cultural scenes, allowing the beauty of art to permeate the urban texture and make every passion resonate.

One of the best spots for "Art & Beauty" in the province, Xinshi Rural Karaoke from Deqing has delivered a brilliant report card. During the May Day holiday, the total online dissemination volume of Xinshi Rural Karaoke exceeded 250 million times, and it topped the Tiktok and Weibo hot search lists 5 times.
This innovative practice of Zhejiang rural characteristic IP originated from the national "Four Seasons Village Song" activity. Through the collaborative creation of cultural departments and media platforms at the provincial, municipal, county and town levels, it has evolved from the initial self-entertainment activities of the township masses to Xinshi " Rural Karaoke " IP with a breaking circle effect and demonstration significance. It not only stood out from a large number of activities with its super high popularity, but also injected a steady stream of new mass cultural momentum into rural revitalization with its three-dimensional model of "all people’s stage + cultural tourism integration + full network communication".
Public Engagement × Zero Threshold Stage-Where Every Passion Finds Its Echo
"Everyone can be a singer, and every village has a big 'folk star'". Xinshi Rural Karaoke pioneered the "system judgment + audience cheering" scoring mechanism. The AI score and the villagers' cheers jointly determined the contestants' path to the next round. This not only broke the professional barriers of traditional competitions, but also allowed farmers working in the fields, young people returning to their hometowns to start businesses, and old people with silver hair to make friends with songs on the same stage. This also confirmed the core value of "Art & Beauty": the essence of cultural services is not the solo of elites, but the resonance of the whole people.
 Rural Culture × Omni-media Communication, from Rural Stage to Top Traffic
One of the secrets of Xinshi Rural Karaoke 's breaking circle is that it has accurately grasped the integration of "content + platform". Relying on the linkage mechanism of "Art & Beauty", on the basis of successfully creating a Township-level cultural brand in the first season, Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Center and Deqing Cultural Center formed a linkage group to provide business guidance for the pilot and cooperate with Zhejiang Satellite TV's professional team to produce and spread influence through all media coverage. Using content creation and publicity coverage as a means of breaking the circle, further promote the influence of Rural Karaoke 's brand, integrate national-level platforms such as WeSing, Kuaishou, Weibo, and Tiktok to form a joint force, and transform the singing in the fields into a hot spot on the entire network.
Integration of Culture and Tourism × Linkage of Industries, the Economics of Rural Revitalization in Songs
The higher realm of cultural integration is to transform cultural spiritual nourishment into the driving force of tourism development. When provincial-level high-quality cultural resources are transferred to towns and villages, and when the villagers' songs spread across the country through the Internet, the traditional "cultural blood transfusion" model is turning to "endogenous hematopoiesis". In the event reward list of Xinshi Rural Karaoke, special prizes such as local cultural tourism consumption coupons and agricultural product gift packages quietly outline a rural revitalization path of "promoting production through culture".
On May 4, CCTV's Evening News reported "Zhejiang Deqing: Rural singing competitions become a new engine to drive cultural tourism consumption". "Xinshi Rural Karaoke " not only reconstructs the cultural activities of the flow logic of urban and rural high-quality cultural resources, but also becomes a pivotal lever for the local area to boost rural tourism, agricultural product sales, and intangible cultural heritage inheritance, interpreting the Zhejiang wisdom of "integration of culture and tourism".
Four-level Linkage × Platform Empowerment, Creating a Formula for the Vitality of Rural IP
The continuous emergence of rural cultural IPs stems from the collaborative creation of multiple forces. The Provincial Cultural Center's Art & Beauty Linkage Group has contacted the pilot project and focused on its creation; the city, county and town cultural and tourism departments provide policy and resource support. This innovative mechanism of "government guidance, market operation, and social participation" has enabled "Xinshi Rural Karaoke " to grow from a single rural cultural centers’ activity to an excellent "Art & Beauty" boutique case that includes music events, cultural and tourism consumption, and intangible cultural heritage exhibitions, providing a replicable "village-brand" model for the revitalization of rural culture in the province and even the country.
When the songs of Xinshi Ancient Town spread across the country via the Internet, we saw not only the enthusiasm of a cultural centers’ competition, but also the innovative strokes of the "Art & Beauty" project on the canvas of rural revitalization with mass culture as the pen. In "Zhejiang", every song is a chord of rural revitalization, and every cheer is the echo of a better life.

Wushan Temple Fair is one of the largest and oldest temple fairs in Hangzhou-Jiaxing-Huzhou area. It is an important folk festival event that displays Hangzhou's local customs and customs. On April 19, the second edition of China Culture News published an article titled "In Zhejiang, the National Art School has an 'outdoor version'", reporting on the Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Center's "Art & Beauty" National Art School, a " Wall-free Night School ". Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Center moved vocal music classes and sign language classes to the open-air stage of West Lake Cultural Square to create a zero-threshold "street art classroom".
In Zhejiang, the National Art School has an “outdoor version”
As night fell, the lights of the "Wulin Blazing Wind" sunken stage in Hangzhou West Lake Cultural Square lit up. The open-air vocal music class led citizens and students to explore the "galaxy" of pop and bel canto, unlocking exclusive vocal secrets; the sign language translation class used basic sign language vocabulary and sentence patterns to help students master communication skills... From April 11th to 12th, the Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Center's National Art School stepped out of the classroom for the first time, moving popular vocal classes, sign language classes, etc. to the outdoors, opening a " Wall-free Night School " and truly putting the microphone in the hands of the people.
Advocate "relaxation"
The " Wall-free Night School " is the "outdoor version" of the Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Center's National Art School. It has no spatial barriers, no age restrictions, and no academic qualifications. It provides an inclusive learning opportunity for every student, allowing them to truly experience the joy of learning art. Students register through the "Inspiring Zhejiang" and can go to the " Wulin Blazing Wind " sunken stage at the West Lake Cultural Square every Friday and Saturday to take classes.
" Wall-free Night School " advocates a "sense of relaxation". Not only can students learn, but residents in the surrounding area can also sit on the ground nearby and experience it in the form of auditing. The courses are also more interactive, and students and audiences present may be "cued" by the teachers at any time.
The course is very "advisable"
It is understood that Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Center promotes the popularization of art for all people by deepening the "Art & Beauty" and continuously plays its positive role in the modernization of public cultural services. In 2023, Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Center's public welfare training has made new breakthroughs. The registration method has changed from "grabbing numbers" on a first-come-first-served basis to "lottery" for open registration. The course content has expanded from cultural and artistic categories to the more popular "aesthetics of life + culture and art + fashion skills", and the teaching method has changed from "you say and I listen" to interactive and immersive teaching. In 2024, the cultural center "pressurized itself" and launched new forms of public cultural services such as the "Art Study Room" and the " Art & Beauty " National Art School Training Results Exhibition and Performance.
The " Wall-free Night School" keeps up with the trend, and its course schedule changes every week, determined by handwritten suggestions from the masses.
Wall-free Night School
The "Yue Opera Vibes in Wulin" on the small stage on Wulin Road, the "City Open Mic" at the West Lake Cultural Square, the "Blind Box Concert" in the Qinghefang Historical District... Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Center is constantly unlocking new ways of public services, breaking the fixed pattern of traditional street art performances, combining advanced digital technology to attract more young citizens; connecting new resources, and setting off a trend of national enjoyment of art and learning art through immersive courses.
In addition to shaping "visible scenery, audible sounds, and lasting memories", the " Wall-free Night School " also hopes to use literature and art as a link to promote the improvement of the city's temperament and the spiritual enrichment of the whole people.
"Cultural centers in the new era should serve as cultural gas stations for citizens, integrators of high-quality resources, and builders of high-quality platforms. They should enhance the people's aesthetic quotient through the popularization of art among the whole people and promote the spiritual wealth of the whole people." Ruan Jing, director of Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Center, said that they will adhere to the principle of benefiting the people through culture, further innovate the precise supply of public culture, so that art is not limited to theaters or walls; attach great importance to "matching supply and demand", and make greater efforts to realize the sinking of high-quality art resources and the activation of resources from the whole society, so that art can truly reach the people and effectively enhance their sense of cultural gain and happiness.

The sea worship ceremony is a way for fishermen in Zhoushan to worship and believe in the sea Dragon King and various sea gods. It is one of the folk customs with the most distinct Marine cultural characteristics. In the old days, due to the backwardness of production tools, whenever there was a storm, the personal safety of fishermen at sea was greatly threatened. Therefore, the legendary sea deities were regarded as the protectors of life and the blessing of harvest, thus forming an atmosphere of dragon worship and belief that "going out to sea to worship the Dragon King, thanking the Dragon King for the harvest, and relying on the Dragon King for rain". The Sea Worship ceremony includes various rituals such as: Kaibu Ji(Commencement Ritual for Fishing Season Opening), Xieyang Ji (Closing Ritual for Fishing Season's end), Qingfeng Ji (Harvest Thanksgiving Ritual), Xinchuan Ji (New Boat Blessing Ritual). These ceremonies are solemnly performed during both the Kaiyang (Fishing Season Opening) and Xieyang (Fishing Season Closing) periods. Fishermen traditionally refer to these observances as: Xie Long Shuijiu (Dragon Thanksgiving Banquet) or Xing Wenshu (Ritual Document Ceremony).

Less than 1,000 meters away from Hangzhou West Lake, Yiyue Space is affiliated to Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Center and is a small art space that is quiet in a bustling city. Small and beautiful is only its appearance, and its true attribute is to open its arms to the public.
As the first exhibition of Yiyue Space in 2025, "Wood’s Renewal - Exhibition of Works by Young Woodcarving Art Groups" was prepared for several months and officially met with the public at 19:00 on April 19 (Saturday). The woodcarving works exhibited this time not only matched the space in form, but also aligned thematically with the concept of the Provincial Cultural Center. The artists used wood as paper and knives as pens to empathize with the public through personal emotional experiences while embedding philosophical thoughts in narrative expression. The gentle colors and soft "brushstrokes" showed the artists' humanistic care for contemporary society.
