Hurricane Rachel could be on a path toward Southern California and reach the region by this weekend, new projections from the National Hurricane Center show. The agency issued an updated advisory Wednesday afternoon showing the projection cone, the area where the storm could be heading, including Southern California and the northern part of the Mexican state of Baja California. SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A person died in a crash on State Route 67 near the San Vicente Reservoir in East County late Monday morning, according to California Highway Patrol. The crash happened on SR-67 north of Slaughterhouse Canyon Road before 11 a.m. According to Lakeside Fire Protection District, one vehicle crossed the lane and was hit by a semi-truck. Three people were transported to a local hospital, some of whom are reportedly in their 70s, officials told FOX 5/KUSI. They are in stable but critical condition, according to Lakeside Fire. One adult died at the scene.
