In Kimbi-Fungom, , bamboo is helping a conflict-affected region rebuild. π
Through the project, INBAR has trained community members in bamboo propagation at nurseries since 2023. In August 2025, communities planted 1666 bamboo seedlings along a five-kilometer strip bordering Kimbi-Fungom National Park. Of those, 1621 survived, a 97% survival rate.
For Ayong Jeremiah Njo, one of 78 project beneficiaries, planting bamboo is "an act of healing and hope." That's because improves soil fertility, creates a natural barrier against encroachment and livestock, slows soil erosion and generates income through handicrafts, construction and processed goods.
Environmental restoration. Economic rejuvenation. Social cohesion. Bamboo is doing it all in Cameroon.
