What makes Bethel’s Summer Camp so special? It’s our incredible campers, and the people who pour their hearts into creating meaningful moments for them. 💙

This summer, two of our incredible teachers went above and beyond, dedicating their time, creativity, and love to create beautiful miniature tactile artworks representing each camper. Every little detail was thoughtfully made, making each piece as unique and special as the camper it represents.

The finished pieces are absolutely beautiful—and such a wonderful keepsake from a summer filled with friendship, fun, laughter, and unforgettable memories. We are so grateful for the care and creativity that went into making each one! ✨

Camp is officially underway! 🌿 From kayaking and horseback riding to exploring nature and learning about where our food comes from, our campers are diving into new experiences every day. Outdoor learning encourages curiosity, problem-solving, and confidence in ways that can't always be taught inside four walls. Camp is off to an amazing start! 💙

Over the course of just a few weeks, three remarkable training programs brought together people united by one goal: creating more opportunities for blind and visually impaired individuals. Guided by our Country Director, Susan Qu, participants completed trainings in:

📍 Xizang Autonomous Region – Blindness Awareness for Self-Help Instructors (June 15)
📍 Jiangsu Province – Independent Support for Individuals with Intermediate Visual Impairment (June 28)
📍 Sichuan Province – Training on Intermediate Blindness (July 3)

Each session was filled with learning, collaboration, and unforgettable moments. New skills were developed. New friendships were formed. New ideas were shared.

One beautiful takeaway from the Xizang training said it perfectly:
"Touch can overcome language barriers."

That simple statement reflects the heart of our work—building understanding, confidence, and independence through connection. Congratulations to every participant, and sincere thanks to Susan Qu for leading these meaningful trainings. The knowledge gained today will continue to impact countless lives tomorrow.

It was a blessing to welcome back our longtime friend and former colleague, Charlie, who worked with us at our very first Dou Dian site many years ago. Though these photos aren't from that original location, the memories remain close to our hearts.

One of our favorite photos from Charlie's visit was of our bulletin board celebrating the many adoptive families, volunteers, and staff who have been part of Bethel throughout the years. Another full circle moment. ❤️

It was a joyful summer gathering as Hong Fa and Ming Ming reconnected with our Bethel family by the ocean. These reunions are always a reminder of how deeply lasting these bonds are. Surrounded by good food and a sea breeze, the group shared stories, laughter, and moments of genuine connection. ❤️

Last week, we celebrated International Children's Day at Bethel with an afternoon full of music, delicious food, laughter, and time together as a community.

Observed annually on June 1, International Children's Day was established in 1949 as a global effort to recognize the importance of supporting, protecting, and uplifting children. Today, it continues to be celebrated in many countries around the world as a day dedicated to childhood, opportunity, and joy.

At Bethel, we marked the occasion the best way we know how—with a party! Students, staff, and friends gathered to share a special day filled with fun, friendship, and memorable moments. From the music playing throughout the celebration to the smiles shared over meals and activities, the room was filled with happiness.

Just take a look at those smiling faces in the photos. Their joy says more than words ever could.

The best part of Children's Day isn't the decorations or the treats—it's the reminder that every child deserves a childhood filled with belonging, encouragement, friendship, and possibility.

Recently, UNICEF launched its "Inclusive Childhood, Colorful Future" campaign with an inspiring performance featuring children reciting classical poetry and singing together.

The event highlighted the beauty of collaboration, self-expression, and the importance of ensuring all children have opportunities to share their talents.

At Bethel, we celebrate moments like these that bring children together and showcase the limitless potential within every young person.

Hi everyone, this is Fang here.

I’m excited to share the latest addition to our Shape Kingdom series of multi-sensory functional books for children.

This new book continues the work we began with our earlier book that introduced square shapes through interactive, hands-on learning experiences, and it builds on our goal of creating learning materials that combine text, Braille, dot matrix patterns, and interactive elements.

Each page focuses on shapes as they appear in everyday life, encouraging children to explore shapes through touch, sound, scent, and playful interaction.

While there are many picture books available for children, there are still very few resources designed with multi-sensory learning approaches. Since winter 2024, we’ve been working to help close this gap by developing our own series of books that make learning more engaging, accessible, and meaningful.

This is the sixth book we’ve created in this series, and our hope is that it supports joyful shared reading experiences between children, parents, and friends, while encouraging curiosity, confidence, and exploration through multiple senses.

We hope it brings moments of discovery and connection through learning.

Recently, our students had the wonderful opportunity to share music classes with students from Tianjin’s International School. Together, they practiced songs, learned from one another, and built meaningful friendships through music.

After the classes, everyone gathered outside for a special music performance filled with energy, excitement, and joy. It was a beautiful moment for students to celebrate their hard work together and enjoy the experience as one community.

We are incredibly thankful for the kindness, friendship, and support from our amazing friends at Tianjin’s International School. Thank you for creating such unforgettable memories with the Bethel family!
