杂家 ZAJIA LAB
artists-led organization
The mission of Zajia lab is to stay free and open, to create space for discussion, as well as exploring alternative modes of working and production for art in different social environments. Established in 2011 by sinologist and artist Ambra Corinti and artist and film maker Rong Guang Rong - Zajia lab is a self-financed art project. The first project of the
organization consisted in the creation and development of an independent space in Beijing city center. The space, inside the front hall of Hong' En Taoist Temple, worked as a vehicle for projects mainly involving live performance, contemporary art, independent cinema, community events and international cross-cultural exchanges. The space financed itself through the bar/cafe situated in the same building in a separated room. Zajia lab is looking for collaborations with individuals, collectives, organizations and institutions interested in exploring Chinese cultural and social context trough exchanges with local artists and creatives. Main interest fields are performing arts, film making, and educational projects. Contact us at [email protected]
Our project space closed on April 2015 since government evicted all tenants. Zajia lab is currently focusing on developing new projects and strategies to collaborate actively with local community and individuals to provoke reflections and awareness to social issues. links:
