MCF is a non-profit organisation registered in the UK founded by Helen Boyle OBE in 2009. Helen first came to China to see her daughter in 2008 and then fell in love with this incredible country and decided to stay on to learn and help disadvantaged children from migrant workers’ families in Beijing. The Foundation’s aims are to enrich the lives of disadvantaged children through various forms of v
oluntary work, sponsorship, vocational activities and events. Our volunteers undertake support placements at under-resourced schools in Beijing, but the focus isn't only on teaching – it's about sharing experiences, giving time, learning new skills and experiencing life in one of the oldest, most fascinating and fast-changing countries on earth. This is what makes MCF unique. Today, MCF is run by a team of Beijing based stakeholders who manages not only the day to day operations, but also the long term direction and values of the foundation. Currently MCF supports some 400 children in 10 migrant children schools across greater Beijing each week. Every Friday and Saturday our volunteers visit these schools to teach kids of different age groups a variety of classes, from Physics to English and even Cookery lessons. MCF also organises special education outings for the kids and also currently sponsors 7 children whose parents could not afford school fees. In additional to providing educational assistance, MCF also raises funds to pay for complete annual health checks for migrant children, with more than 6000 children covered to date. Assistance with dental treatment and eye care has also been provided (more than 600 children provided with glasses so far). We are nothing without the help of our sponsors, partners and volunteers and we welcome anyone who wishes to contribute in any way. For volunteer enquiries, please contact: [email protected]
