SOCIAL INCLUSION: UCCC Permanent Secretaries build their capacity in Yaounde
The 10 regional Permanent Secretaries of the United Councils and Cities of Cameroon (UCCC) are taking part, this Thursday 28 May 2026 in Yaounde, in a capacity-building workshop dedicated to social inclusion, in collaboration with the CBCHS’s EDID programme.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Augustin Tamba, National President of the UCCC, in the presence of Chirac Jacques Awa, representative of the Director of the CBCHS.
This meeting aims to strengthen the skills of regional UCCC officials in ensuring that people with disabilities are taken into account in local development policies.
During the proceedings, participants discussed concepts related to disability and inclusion, barriers to social inclusion, and the legal framework for the protection of people with disabilities in Cameroon.
The discussions also helped to define the role of Permanent Secretaries in promoting inclusive policies within municipalities.
Among the priorities identified are the establishment of municipal inclusive monitoring committees, supporting Councils in securing the Inclusive them Award, and organising regional training and feedback sessions for municipal focal points responsible for social inclusion.
Through this initiative, the UCCC and the CBCHS aim to promote more inclusive local governance and to ensure that vulnerable people are consistently taken into account in local public policies.
