Foundation for Peace and Solidarity - FPS Cameroon

The Foundation for Peace and Solidarity has as mission “Safeguarding Peace and the Future of Humanity”.

The Foundation for Peace and Solidarity (FPS) was founded on 15th March 2001 and incepted on the 25th October 2001. The principal aim of FPS is to promote the culture of peace, human rights, democracy and solidarity. The vision of FPS is to ensure a society base on love and harmony with the respect of human rights and non-violent means of conflict resolution. FPS works in collaboration with other

national and international institutions like NGOs, government, schools, associations and the local communities to better achieve its aims. FPS carries out activities like: training workshops, public awareness forums (conferences, seminars, media and so on), news journals and distributions of flyers, meet the people contact/grassroots mobilisation and education tours, establish institutional frameworks like Peace and Human Rights Clubs in schools and colleges, youth camps and sporting activities etc.

Closing Ceremony of the Vote Smart Cameroon Project 🇨🇲

We officially closed the Vote Smart Cameroon project on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. A powerful journey of civic awakening and voter education for first-time voters sponsored by the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives

Over the past six months, young people gained practical knowledge on electoral processes, responsible political participation, and the power of informed decision-making. Many moved from uncertainty to confidence, ready not just to vote, but to vote wisely.

While much remains to be done in strengthening youth electoral empowerment, this project has undoubtedly left its mark. The seeds of civic responsibility have been planted.

The future of our democracy is brighter when young people are informed, engaged, and empowered.

All good things come to a meaningful close.

We are proud to announce the successful completion of our six-month project, Vote Smart Cameroon, implemented with the support of the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives.

Over the past months, Vote Smart Cameroon focused on empowering first-time voters with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to participate responsibly in the 2025 presidential election. Through community engagement, voter education activities, and stakeholder collaboration, the project strengthened awareness and encouraged informed civic participation.

As we mark the close of this initiative, we celebrate the impact achieved and reaffirm our continued commitment to promoting responsible and informed democratic engagement across Cameroon.

This Friday, Vote Smart Cameroon will continue its commitment to inclusive civic engagement in Buea. We are hosting a session that brings together visually impaired citizens and first-time voters, making sure they get the guidance and support they need to take part in the electoral process with confidence.

Inclusion is action. It means creating space for everyone to understand their rights, ask questions, and feel prepared on election day. Every voice matters. Every vote counts.

We look forward to a meaningful and accessible session on Friday as we expand participation and strengthen our democracy together.

We designed clear braille materials for Friday’s session ensuring accessible civic engagement and confident learning.

Two days ago, we met with local footballers in Njika, Foumban, to talk about civic engagement and why their voices matter in this election season. Football brings people together. Players inspire entire communities, on and off the pitch. When they speak up, people listen.

This conversation was about more than sports. It was about leadership, responsibility, and using influence to shape a better future. Every vote counts, and athletes are powerful examples of what active citizenship looks like.

Footballers matter in elections. Their choices echo far beyond the field.

Our work in advocacy and training does not stop. We continue our outreach with first time voters to share clear information about civic responsibility, the voting process, and the role participation plays in public life.

These sessions create space for questions, learning, and confidence building as new voters prepare to take part in their first election.

Our next stop is Buea: we look forward to sharing with UB Students about civic responsibility and what it means to take ownership of our future.

To every new voter stepping into this process for the first time: your voice matters. Your vote is not small. It is your say in the direction of your community and your country.
