🎙️ AFFADA featured in the podcast series “Celles qui portent l’Afrique” – Episode 10
Our President, Françoise BABA MBALA, is featured in the 10th episode of the podcast series “Celles qui portent l’Afrique”, under the theme:
“Traditions, Chiefdoms and the Power to Act”
Through her long-standing commitment as President of AFFADA – Association of Women and Girls of Adamawa, Françoise BABA MBALA has been carrying a strong message for more than 20 years:
“Women must be given responsibilities and power within traditional chiefdoms.”
In northern Cameroon, AFFADA works to promote the recognition of women’s roles within traditional communities. Rather than confrontation, our approach is based on dialogue, awareness-raising and collaboration with traditional rulers and notables.
The goal is clear: to ensure that women are given a legitimate place within chiefdoms, with a title, a function, responsibilities and a real capacity to act.
Today, this fieldwork has produced remarkable results: 300 women notables are now serving in 19 traditional chiefdoms.
This progress reflects a deeply rooted commitment to women’s leadership, grounded in local realities, respectful of traditions and focused on building a more inclusive future.
At AFFADA, we believe that a community grows stronger when women are fully involved in the decisions that shape its development, peace and social balance.
