As social media's influence continues to expand, concerns are mounting over the roles of parents, schools, government, technology companies and society in protecting the girl child. On Twilight, Monday, July 27, 2026, Moki Edwin Kindzeka and his panel of experts will examine the factors driving this disturbing trend and discuss practical solutions to better protect young girls in the digital age.

Cassava from leaves to roots

Workshop on Cassava Transformation, Monatele Lekie Division, Centre Region in Cameroon
60 participants meeting at the Monatele Council Hall for oral lessons on day one.

The Centre region, is the second cassava production region in Cameroon with a 1.2 million tons annually. Like other regions post-harvest loss is high, up to.40% of cultivation. Reason why cassava transformation is necessary, to guarantee food sufficiency and economic benefits to the farmers.

WICCA is on the field again to better the income earnings of women in Monatélé by improving their income earning on one of their main farm products, cassava.

Note: Cassava can be transformed into 45 different by-products.

Cameroon is among the top 10 cassava producing countries in Africa, with an annual production estimated at 6.7 million tons , a 53% increase since 2011. Cassava is grown in all 10 regions of Cameroon, with heavy concentration in the South, Centre, East, and South West regions producing up to 70% of national output. Cassava is the second highly produced crop in Cameroon after corn.
