Meet Muhammadnasir S. Musa, one of the young leaders admitted to join the Model United Nations Young Leaders Parliament (MUNYLEP) Program, carefully designed to train and position young leaders who are passionate about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), policy development, and the development of their communities.
Muhammadnasir S. Musa is a postgraduate student at Saint Monica University Institute, Buea, Cameroon, pursuing an MSc in Medical Microbiology and Parasitology. He holds a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science and a Higher National Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science. His academic work focuses on malaria, antimicrobial resistance, and the One Health approach, recognizing the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health. He serves as a One Health Ambassador and a trained peacebuilding advocate, driven by the conviction that health security and global peace are inseparable.
His leadership journey began in secondary school as Treasurer of the Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria (MSSN) Government Science College Izom Chapter (2019/2020) and has since grown through university and international platforms. He progressed through university leadership at Saint Monica University Institute, Buea, Cameroon, serving as Class Representative (2021–2023), Student Union Government Secretary-General (2021–2022), and later as Student Union Government President (2023–2024).
His leadership soon expanded beyond the university to the broader diaspora stage with the Nigerian Students Union (Northwest and Southwest Regions of Cameroon), where he served as Welfare Director (2022–2023) and later as Secretary-General (2023–2024), overseeing welfare, advocacy, and coordination for Nigerian students across both regions. Building on this experience, he stepped forward as a presidential aspirant for the union in 2025, a campaign that further deepened his expertise in large-scale mobilization, policy communication, and grassroots engagement.
Currently, he serves as Assistant Secretary of the Cameroon Association of Medical Laboratory Science Students (2025–present), Secretary for the Imamate Commission of the Cameroon Muslim Union (CAMSU Buea), Head of Commission in charge of Nigerian Students of the Cameroon Muslim Students Union (CAMSU Buea), and chairs multiple constitutional review committees, reflecting his enduring commitment to institutional development and transparent governance.
Beyond these roles, Muhammadnasir is a passionate public speaker, mentor, and volunteer with a deep commitment to African progress, good governance, and youth empowerment. He believes that meaningful transformation begins when young people take ownership of shaping their communities and continent.
He applied to join the Model United Nations Young Leaders Parliament because its mission resonates deeply with his lifelong dedication to diplomacy, policy advocacy, and global peace. His journey from grassroots student leadership to diaspora and international advocacy has equipped him with practical experience in negotiation and community engagement. The Parliament offers him a platform to strengthen his leadership, public speaking, and multilateral dialogue skills while engaging with a community of young leaders committed to the Sustainable Development Goals and the development of their communities.
As a medical laboratory scientist and peacebuilding advocate, he carries a singular conviction: that the future of African peace and prosperity rests in the hands of its youth. Through this platform, he prepares to represent, to contribute, and ultimately to return, not merely as a participant in global governance, but as a builder of the systems that will empower generations to come.
