Jacob Ayuk-Takem Foundation For Agricultural Research and Development

Jacob Ayuk-Takem Foundation For Agricultural Research and Development Late Dr Ayuk-Takem's impact on agricultural research and development in most of sub Saharan Africa in general and Cameroon in particular.

His greatest achievements are in the domain of cereal research which he developed a series of maize. An endemic poverty is spreading in the whole of Africa in general and Cameroon in particular for nearly three decades. This is due to two main reasons:
• The disengagement of the State who no longer has sufficient financial resources to meet its responsibilities vis-à-vis the populations,
• And the

lack of capitalization and dissemination of results of relevant solutions locally designed and internationally recognized as they can de facto help alleviate the widespread poverty. The consequences of this are felt at first at the food level because phenomena such as rural exodus and the low level or lack of support to agriculture increase the cost of food, thus weakening populations who are already weakened and have difficulties to provide for basic needs. It is to overcome this state of affairs that the late Dr. Ayuk-Takem has always believed that it is for everyone to bring solutions to the increasing fragility of the population relying on what he knows best. For the late Dr. Ayuk-Takem, it was therefore natural to rely on agriculture which was his field of excellence.
