Today, we opened the 2026–2027 academic year of the SUHUCAM Climate Change & Innovation Clubs in a rather special way, with our hands in the soil.

Our first session took place in Blessed Bilingual High School’s Regenerative Garden, where students planted huckleberry and began learning what it means to grow food while caring for the land that produces it.

There was something beautiful about watching the students do the work themselves.

They touched the soil.
They planted the seedlings.
They watered them.
They asked questions.

Most importantly, they began to see agriculture differently, not as “dirty work,” but as a space for knowledge, innovation, food, green skills, and opportunity.

That is the kind of climate education we are trying to build through the Climate Change & Innovation Clubs.

A child should not only learn about climate change from a textbook. They should be able to walk into a garden and understand how we grow food, how we treat soil, and how we use our natural resources are all part of the climate conversation.

Climate action does not always begin in conference rooms.
Sometimes, it begins in the spaces where communities gather, connect, and build relationships.

That is the thinking behind a collaboration between hashtag , Rural Doctors, the Mankong Students Cultural Association (MASCA) and Valery Nguh, a health and agripreneur which used a community football tournament as an entry point to promote conversations around climate adaptation, health resilience and youth empowerment.

Beyond the competition, the collaboration leaves a more important message: When communities are given the space to learn, connect, and act, climate resilience and better health become part of everyday community life.

Flood, Landslide Warnings: Sept 1–10, 2026, Be Forewarned!

The National Observatory on Climate Change, ONACC has issued Dekadal Bulletin N°271 detailing major weather alerts across Cameroon:
Heavy Rains, Flooding: High risks reported in low-lying zones of the Far North, North, Adamawa, Centre, West, Littoral, and South West Regions.
Landslides: High-risk terrain warnings in place for the North West, West, South West, and Littoral Regions.
Storms, Winds: Severe winds and lightning strikes expected across multiple regions.

Key Advice:
Agriculture: Ideal sowing window now open for Centre, East, and South Regions.
Safety: Avoid sheltering under trees and clear drainage paths.
Livestock: Keep poultry warm during cold nights.

Un grand merci à toutes et à tous ceux qui ont participé à la consultation de l’Afrique centrale dans le cadre de l’African Youth Water and Climate Engagement Initiative (AYWCEI).

Vos voix, vos expériences, vos idées et vos recommandations sur la sécurité hydrique, l’adaptation au changement climatique, l’assainissement et la gouvernance ont contribué à faire de ce dialogue un véritable espace d’échange et d’impact.

Des jeunes chercheurs aux défenseurs de l’eau, en passant par les activistes climatiques, les organisateurs communautaires et les représentants de la jeunesse, vos contributions contribueront à façonner les priorités qui alimenteront directement le Document de position des jeunes africains sur l’eau et le climat.

Cette consultation est bien plus qu’un simple dialogue : c’est une étape importante pour garantir que la jeunesse africaine soit entendue et représentée dans les espaces de décision sur l’eau et le climat.
