International Day of Indigenous Women and Girls 2026 under the theme “Indigenous women and girls: Rights, resilience and leadership”
On this International Day of Indigenous Women and Girls, Indigenous women and girls must not only be protected but recognized as leaders and rights holders. Their voices and knowledge must be at the centre of decisions affecting their lands, livelihoods, families and future.
FFAC calls for stronger protection of Indigenous women and girls from all forms of violence, greater access to resources and funding, secure land rights, quality education and effective and meaningful participation in decision-making processes.
Let us move from recognition to action and ensure that Indigenous women and girls can lead, thrive and shape a more just and inclusive future.

Our CEO delivered a powerful statement on behalf of Indigenous women at UNCCD COP17 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, calling for secure land rights, meaningful participation, recognition of Indigenous knowledge, women’s leadership, direct access to funding, and prevention of all forms of violence against Indigenous women and girls.

FFAC Message for World Water Day 2026 under the ,Theme: Water and Gender Equality “Where water flows, equality grows.”

On World Water Day 2026, FFAC
recognizes that access to safe and sustainable water is fundamental to the dignity, health and livelihoods of Indigenous peoples. For Mbororo pastoralist communities, water sustains families, livestock, food systems and traditional ways of life. Indigenous women and girls are often among those most affected by water scarcity, drought and environmental degradation. Yet they also hold valuable traditional knowledge and play a critical role in managing natural resources.
FFAC calls for Indigenous women’s meaningful participation in water governance, climate action and decision making.

On this World Indigenous Peoples Day 2026, FFAC stands proud under the theme “Honouring Indigenous Midwives: Safeguarding Life and Well-being.” Indigenous midwives are guardians of life, culture, and ancestral knowledge. Their hands bring life, their wisdom sustains generations. We celebrate their strength and call for recognition, protection, and support of Indigenous women’s roles in our communities.

This important conversation will highlight the vital role of Indigenous knowledge, sustainable land management, and the resilience of pastoralist communities in protecting our ecosystems.

From local realities to global platforms, we continue to amplify the voices of Indigenous women and pastoralists in shaping climate and environmental solutions.

FFAC was honoured to contribute to important discussions on strengthening the inclusion and meaningful participation of vulnerable groups in electoral processes.
Held in Yaoundé on 27–28 July 2026, the engagement brought together key stakeholders to reflect on ways to promote more inclusive, accessible, and participatory elections, ensuring that the voices of marginalized communities, including Indigenous peoples, women, youth, and other vulnerable groups, are recognised and represented.
As Forum des Femmes Autochtones du Cameroun (FFAC), we remain committed to advancing equal participation, human rights, and inclusive governance.
