The CIRPRES delegation's visit to Cameroon continued this week.

Following their engagement at our Yaoundé head office, the delegation from CIRPRES (International Research Center for the Prevention of Child Soldiers) extended their visit to our Far North Regional Office on Monday, deepening the conversation around child protection and institutional collaboration in one of Cameroon's most complex humanitarian contexts.

The Far North remains a region where the protection of children from armed recruitment and the support of their reintegration is not a distant concern but an urgent daily reality. Having CIRPRES engage directly with our team on the ground speaks to the kind of purposeful, field-rooted partnership that drives real impact.

We are grateful for this visit and energised by what this growing collaboration holds for the communities we serve together.

Division is easy. It takes no effort to retreat into sides, to see difference as threat, and to let misunderstanding fester into conflict.

What takes work is understanding. Cooperation. Compassion. And yet, these are precisely the things that have always moved societies forward.

This Wednesday, our Southwest team's Comms and Programs Volunteer, Jennifer Anagho, challenges us to make a different choice: dialogue over conflict, respect over division. Not as ideals we admire from a distance, but as daily practices that shape the kind of community and country we are building together.

The future we want does not arrive on its own. It is built, one interaction at a time.

A milestone visit for LOYOC.

Yesterday, we welcomed a delegation from CIRPRES (International Research Centre for the Prevention of Child Soldiers) from Morocco to our Yaoundé office. The visit, which brought both teams together for a productive engagement, marks a significant step in strengthening the institutional partnership between LOYOC and CIRPRES.

At LOYOC, we know that protecting children from armed conflict and supporting their reintegration into society requires collective action, shared knowledge, and strong partnerships across borders. A visit like this is a reminder that the work of building peace and safeguarding young people is bigger than any one organisation.

We look forward to deepening this collaboration and the impact it will generate for the communities we serve.

LOYOC was represented at the North West Women Mediators Summit 2026 in Bamenda, organised by Mother of Hope Cameroon as part of their Women Mediation Project, funded by Open Society Foundations .

Held on 4 and 5 June 2026, the summit brought together women mediators, peacebuilders, and stakeholders around the theme: "Women's Leadership in Peacebuilding: Formalizing the Voices and Roles of Women Mediators for Inclusive Peace Processes in the North West Region."

Our Administrative Specialist, Ndengwe Gladys Ntube Epse Tabot, participated across both days, contributing to conversations on women's inclusion in peace processes and amplifying community and regional voices in peacebuilding spaces.

At LOYOC, we believe that sustainable peace is only possible when women are not just present at the table, but recognised as essential architects of the process.

Respect is not a grand gesture. It is in how you greet your neighbour, how you listen when someone speaks, how you show up for people who are different from you.
Peace is built in those small, everyday moments. And when enough people choose respect consistently, something bigger starts to take shape: safer communities, stronger relationships, and a society where people can actually thrive.

Our Southwest team's Programs Volunteer, Mechane Gina, puts it simply this Wednesday: the world we want tomorrow is being built by how we treat each other today. 🕊

Are you doing your part? 💙

This Wednesday, the Local Youth Corner Cameroon (LOYOC) Southwest team reminds us that lasting peace begins with a conscious choice. When we lay down our egos and lead with empathy, we bridge divides and build a resilient future for everyone.

Peace is not just an agreement signed in a conference room. It is a choice made every day, in how we speak, how we listen, and how we treat the person standing in front of us.

This Wednesday, our Southwest team reminds us that peacebuilding starts long before conflicts escalate. It starts with compassion in our homes, empathy in our communities, and the willingness to choose dialogue over division.

In a world that moves fast and reacts faster, slowing down to understand the other side is one of the most powerful things any of us can do.

This is what LOYOC's Southwest team stands for, one Wednesday at a time.

🇨🇲 Happy National Day, Cameroon! 🇨🇲

On this 20th of May, we celebrate not just a date on the calendar but the spirit that holds us together as one people, one nation.

"National Unity: Backbone of our Defence System, Bedrock of Cameroon's Development" is not just a theme. It is a call to action. A reminder that the strength of our nation has never come from one region, one language, or one culture alone. It comes from all of us, together.

At LOYOC, unity is not a concept we celebrate once a year. It is the foundation of everything we do, working across all ten regions to build peace, empower youth, and strengthen the communities that make Cameroon what it is.

Today, we stand proud. Tomorrow, we keep building.

Happy 54th National Day to all Cameroonians at home and across the world!
