The official closing ceremony of the Na We We Sports Jamboree was packed from start to finish, football and handball finals, recognition of academic excellence and celebrations, all in one day.

The biggest match of the day was football male finals, Team Justice beat Team Solidarity 4-2 on penalties to take the men's football title.

Medals followed across all three disciplines:
Football (Male): Team Justice gold, Team Solidarity silver
Football (Female): Team Solidarity gold, Solidarity silver
Handball: No to Hate gold, Love silver

Individual prizes were also awarded on the day for Best Player, Top Scorer, and Most Disciplined Player.

The ceremony also honoured academic excellence. On the GCE Advanced Level, Nyuysemo Jenifer Dzesinyuy of GHS Batoke placed with 25 points, and Christel Ngowo Lyonga of Saker Baptist Limbe with 33 points, among the region's best performing GCE Ordinary Level and Advanced Level candidates recognised on the night. Back to school kits were also distributed to students, easing the load on students and families ahead of the new school year.

Magasco and Vinoha performed on the day, keeping the energy up between the football and the ceremony.

Congratulations to every team, every student, and every young person who made the day what it was.

On a normal day, why should a successful comedian like Spaco Lee spend his time cleaning the streets of Molyko?

It is a question many may ask. But perhaps the bigger question is: What does it truly mean to be an influencer?

Influence goes far beyond the number of followers you have on social media. True influence is your ability to see a problem, refuse to simply complain about it, and choose to become part of the solution.

This is why, during the Sports Jamboree, our organization in collaboration with Ministère de la Jeunesse et de l'Education Civique 237 & United Nations Cameroon honoured Spaco Lee with the Champion for Social Cohesion and Resilience Award.

This recognition had nothing to do with his talent as a comedian or his popularity. It was about something even more powerful: service to his community.

Rather than complain that the streets are dirty, Spaco Lee took responsibility. For almost a year, he has consistently mobilised hundreds of young people to clean the streets of Molyko—sometimes as often as three times a month.

No big speeches. No waiting for someone else to act. Just leadership through action. 💪🏾

That is what influence should look like: using your voice, visibility and platform to inspire people to take responsibility for their communities.

Talent may give you a platform, but service gives that platform purpose.

Congratulations, Spaco Lee. 👏🏾🏆

The "Ballon d'Or" night was made for the recognition of those who made the 5th Edition of the Na We We Sports Jamboree truly remarkable, honourees of the Social Cohesion and Resilience Award, and the local committee members.

Twenty outstanding individuals were honoured as Champions of Social Cohesion and Resilience, among them mayors, members of parliament, traditional rulers, a paramount chief, university leadership, civil society founders, government administrators, and entertainers, all drawn from across the South West Region. Their common thread was simple: each has, in their own space, done the work of holding communities together.

Certificates also went to 52 local committee members. They organised, mobilised, mediated and kept the peace long before the first whistle. The jamboree ran because they made it run.

Mary Asombang Asaba performed on the night, and the ceremony turned into what it should have been all along: a celebration.

Congratulations to every recipient. You are why this worked.

The closing ceremony of the Na We We Sports Jamboree was nothing short of remarkable. From the caravan that moved through the streets of Tiko, to the football finals, to the Ballon d'Or award ceremony, the day was packed from beginning to end, and every activity carried its own weight.

During the Solidarity Match, we were graced by former Indomitable Lions player Bernard Tchoutang, who played alongside local players in a friendly football match that nobody was trying to win. The two teams were not named after towns or football clubs. They were named after the message of the jamboree: Team Social Cohesion and Team No to Hate.

A former international football player has nothing to gain from a friendly match in Tiko. Bernard Tchoutang came anyway, and he played beside young people from communities that people often describe as divided.

For anyone meeting Na We We for the first time, it is a Local Youth Corner Cameroon initiative that uses sport to bring young people together around peace and social cohesion. This fifth edition ran in Tiko, South West Region, from 3 June to 29 August, with 22 teams competing in male football, female football and handball, and over 500 participants taking part.

Sport alone does not resolve a conflict. What sport does is bring people onto the same football field long enough to remember what they have in common.

The closing ceremony of the Na We We Sports Jamboree welcomed H.E. Mounouna Foutsou, Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education (MINJEC), as the highest authority on the field. He was joined by the Secretary General of MINJEC, Zachée Robert Théophile Benga, the Regional Delegate of MINJEC for the South West, the Divisional Officers of Fako, and other staff members from Yaounde and the host city.

The Minister commended the initiative for its role in supporting students with back to school supplies, and by extension, easing the burden on families. He encouraged greater youth collaboration and called on young people to keep working toward their goals while also aligning with national priorities: reducing drug consumption, lowering crime rates, and standing as moral citizens in their communities.

Having this level of institutional presence stand alongside young athletes, local committees and partners says something practical. It says this work is public business, and that the young people driving it are not doing so on the margins.

Tomorrow, Tiko writes history. 🔥🇨🇲

The closing ceremony of the 5th Edition of the Na We We Sports Jamboree is tomorrow, 29th August 2026, at GS Upper Costain Field in Tiko. Two months of work, sacrifice, and the spirit of vivre ensemble have led to this moment.

To every young person who stepped onto that field this summer, every coach who built a team, every partner who believed in this mission, and every community member who showed up: tomorrow is for you.

Yesterday, our SW Team supported Miss Kristin Bruce, a school counsellor from California, USA, in holding a mental health training for youth leaders under her program "Starting From Scratch."

Youth leaders gained practical knowledge on self-love, understanding different types of emotions, communicating with others and setting healthy boundaries, positive thinking, and managing judgment. The session was highly practical, equipping participants with new ways to process their own emotions and better support children navigating difficult experiences. Certificates were awarded to all participants at the end of the training.

This training was held as part of the activities of the Na We We Sports Jamboree Closing Ceremony. True to this year's theme, "Stronger Together in Times of Crisis Through Sports," strength isn't only built on the field, it's also built in leaders who know how to understand and support the people around them.

Thank you, Miss Kristin, for making this training possible and for equipping our youth leaders with tools that will ripple out into every community they serve.

Peacebuilding starts early, and it starts from the inside out.

Through our Kiddies Corner project in the South West Region, our SW Team hosted a special activity with Miss Kristin Bruce, a school counsellor from California, USA, through her program "Starting From Scratch."

The session focused on morals, self-esteem, and discipline, using practical, honest conversations to help children understand how to carry themselves and speak positively about who they are, all through play and games.

Confidence and self-worth are skills too, and for children growing up in a fragile environment, they matter just as much as any lesson in a classroom.
