Capacity Training Workshop on Alternative Dispute Resolution.
From August 26 to 29, 2025, Ready for Development (RfD), in collaboration with the International Center for Conflict, Peace, & Legal Studies, conducted a four-day capacity-building workshop in Buea, Cameroon, under the theme "Alternative Dispute Resolution: Perspectives on Techniques and Methods in Conflict Resolution."
Facilitated by Dr. Barrister Njissic Stephen, along with a team of experts, the workshop aimed to:
- Enhance participants’ theoretical and practical comprehension of conflict and its dynamics;
- Offer practical knowledge and tools regarding negotiation, conciliation, and problem-solving techniques;
- Equip participants with the necessary skills to implement Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in real-world conflict scenarios within their communities and professional environments.
Throughout the training, participants examined the essence of conflict, its origins, and the various stages of escalation. The facilitators highlighted the significance of recognizing perceptions to effectively prevent, manage, and constructively resolve disputes.
Additionally, the workshop incorporated interactive group activities, simulations, and presentations of case studies. These practical exercises reflected real-life conflict situations and helped participants enhance their problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Moreover, participants also learned how to formulate agreements that are equitable, enforceable, and sustainable. At the end of the training, participants reaffirmed their dedication to fostering peace and sustainable development in Cameroon and beyond.
