Capacity Workshop on Communication

Today, 28 March 2026, Ready for Development (RfD) took an important step forward in strengthening how we tell our story and share our impact. We were privileged to be trained under the theme: “Using Communication to Strengthen Visibility, Funding & Impact.”

The training was led by Madame Ojong Merilyne, Executive Director of Lacquer Communications, who walked us through practical tools and real-world strategies to improve organizational visibility and attract sustainable opportunities.

In her opening statement, she noted that good work deserves to be seen, heard, and understood. Through her guidance, our team gained fresh insights on how strong communication can open doors to partnerships, build trust with communities, and attract the support needed to sustain meaningful change.

Emphasis was laid on key aspects of effective communication, including the importance of storytelling, consistent messaging, and the strategic use of social media to showcase impact and build trust.

The session ended in a highly interactive manner, featuring hands-on practical exercises that enabled team members to apply newly acquired knowledge and skills to real-life scenarios.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Lacquer Communications and Madame Ojong Merilyne for delivering this impactful training and for strengthening the communication capacity of our team.

Ready for Development (RfD) remains committed to continuous learning and capacity strengthening to better serve communities and expand our development impact.

Celebration of the International Day of Non-Violence.

On October 2, 2025, Ready for Development (RfD) and Joints Efforts to Scale-Up Impacts (JESUIS) hosted a virtual webinar entitled “Cultivating Peace: Building Resilient Communities for Sustainable Development,” to mark the International Day of Non-Violence.

Two insightful presentations framed the discussions of the day:

1. Non-Violence in Everyday Life: From Homes to Communities, Presented by OBIA MBONI Bryan, Executive Director of RfD.

Mr. Bryan highlighted the importance of adopting non-violence as a lifestyle and mindset. He emphasized that individuals must initiate non-violence and extend it to their families, workplaces, and communities. He maintained that respect, empathy, and dialogue foster peaceful coexistence and referred to the home as the first school of peace. He urged participants to actively practice non-violence in their daily interactions to build resilient communities.

2. Non-Violence and the SDGs – Pathways to Resilient and Inclusive Societies, Presented by Dominique Mieguim, Executive Director of JESUIS.

Mrs. Mieguim explored the links between non-violence and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She explained how peace and non-violence lay the foundation for inclusive growth, reduce inequalities, and promote resilient societies. She stressed the importance of forming partnerships, engaging youth, and driving community actions to embed non-violence in development strategies.

The webinar ended with a call to action urging all participants to become ambassadors of non-violence in their daily lives and spheres of influence.

Capacity Training Workshop on Alternative Dispute Resolution.

From August 26 to 29, 2025, Ready for Development (RfD), in collaboration with the International Center for Conflict, Peace, & Legal Studies, conducted a four-day capacity-building workshop in Buea, Cameroon, under the theme "Alternative Dispute Resolution: Perspectives on Techniques and Methods in Conflict Resolution."

Facilitated by Dr. Barrister Njissic Stephen, along with a team of experts, the workshop aimed to:

- Enhance participants’ theoretical and practical comprehension of conflict and its dynamics;

- Offer practical knowledge and tools regarding negotiation, conciliation, and problem-solving techniques;

- Equip participants with the necessary skills to implement Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in real-world conflict scenarios within their communities and professional environments.

Throughout the training, participants examined the essence of conflict, its origins, and the various stages of escalation. The facilitators highlighted the significance of recognizing perceptions to effectively prevent, manage, and constructively resolve disputes.

Additionally, the workshop incorporated interactive group activities, simulations, and presentations of case studies. These practical exercises reflected real-life conflict situations and helped participants enhance their problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Moreover, participants also learned how to formulate agreements that are equitable, enforceable, and sustainable. At the end of the training, participants reaffirmed their dedication to fostering peace and sustainable development in Cameroon and beyond.

The Transformative Power of Giving Back

Recently, we spoke with students of Fobang Institutes for Innovations in Science and Technology (FINISTECH) about the transformative power of giving back.

We explored the various ways through which the students could :

- Contribute to enriching their communities;
- Connect to causes they care about;
- Gain unique skills;
- and broaden their perspectives about life.

It was proven that people who regularly invest their time and resources in causes they are passionate about develop a sense of purpose and fulfilment. They gain practical experience and exposure while connecting with like-minded individuals from diverse backgrounds committed to creating a lasting impact.

We concluded that donating is a powerful and transformative act that one can never regret, as it benefits both the donor and the community economically, socially, and politically.
