Call for nominations for Commonwealth Youth Council executives

Do you want to be part of a team representing the voice of 1.2 billion young people in the Commonwealth?

Nominations are now open for the upcoming Commonwealth Youth Council (C*C) 2018 elections, and will close on 31 December 2017.

To fit the general criteria for nomination, candidates:
• must be at least 15 years old at nomination, and be under 30 years for the entire term of office (April 2018¬—April 2020)
• must have a minimum of three years’ experience as a national and regional/international youth leader
• should be an experienced youth advocate
• must be national of a Commonwealth country, but do not need to be resident in that country.

The following positions are available and will be served for a two-year term:
• Chairperson
• Vice Chairperson - Inclusion and Engagement
• Vice Chairperson - Partnerships and Resources
• Vice Chairperson – Policy and Advocacy
• Regional Representative - Africa and Europe
• Regional Representative - Asia
• Regional Representative - Caribbean and the Americas
• Regional Representative - Pacific
• Representative - Special Interest Groups

The elections are transparent and democratic. After nomination and reference checks, approved candidates will begin their formal elections process from February 2015, leading up to the elections.

AFRO offers internships in the follow areas:

1. Communicable diseases (HIV, Tuberculosis, Malaria, Neglected tropical diseases (NTD) and public health and environment programmes);

2. Family and Reproductive Health (Health through life course, nutrition and immunization);

3. Noncommunicable Diseases (prevention and management of NCDs (including risk factors), mental health, violence and injuries);

4. Health systems strengthening (health policy, financing and access, integrated service deliver and health information and knowledge management, aiming at Universal Health Coverage);

5. Health Security and Emergencies (disease surveillance, emergency risk assessment and management, outbreak and disaster response and laboratory support);
6. Administration (Human Resources, IT etc);

7. Corporate Communications;

8. Country Relations.

NB. Internship positions are non-paid and are offered in the different country offices and technical clusters in the African Region. Only shortlisted candidates will be informed.
