We need to act now. Push forward the necessary actions towards mitigation and adaptation.

As a health student am very disturbed by the climate crisis and the actions we’re not taking in addressing its causes. It makes me ponder on my capacity in contributing to effective health access for all, especially in communities most vulnerable to climate change if the crisis exasperates. Municipal waste contributes to carbon emissions in the atmosphere and contributes to the prevalence of a variety of diseases. The most basic action we can take against climate change has always been within our reach which is the ability to dispose of our waste properly. Actions as little as not littering a single waste paper from eating a pack of chips on the road cumulatively will go a long way in solving the situation. We need to take charge. climate change is not beyond us to resolve rather we’re stronger
beyond measure.

It has been enriching taking part virtually in the GCA youth dialogue on adaptation action: delivering on the Glassgow Climate pact. It began today and extends into tomorrow 4th. It goes without saying, that
Mainstreaming the involvement of youths in the adaptation agenda leading into and not limiting to the Africa Adaptation Summit and the COP27 UN climate summit in Sharm El-Sheikh Egypt is paramount.
As youths, we can play a very important role at local levels in making communities more resilient to climate change and equally at national and international levels in the design and implementation of adaptation plans.
In essence, adaptation is the process of adjusting to the current and future effects of climate change.
It's important to say as I learned, that adaptation doesn't imply giving up on climate change mitigation. Actually, Adaptation complements mitigation, both work hand in glove. More so, because mitigating the effects of climate change is not a day’s or a year’s job and how we survive in the problem of climate change whilst working on mitigating it, is where adaptation comes in. Adaptation is necessary if not underdeveloped local communities with poor economies are most likely to suffer more.

When I was younger, much before I knew how to read a sentence right. I always bothered my mother during bedtime for a story, and with a little persistence came one. When we relocated, one of the rooms in the new house we moved into was turned into a library. My father filled it with books as he is an English in Literature teacher. It came in handy as I had come of age to read and thus seek the stories by myself in books. I read those books because the stories were interesting but with time it sprouted into much more as I moved from fiction to non-fiction. Building in me the urge to know more about the world around me and how I can improve it.
Today looking at me and where I am headed, I think I was/am a lucky kid. And like I was, many kids aren't. I am looking forward to a day when communities have public libraries for everyone, But in the meantime, we (MY FUTURE TOMORROW) created the Children Story club in the Wonjumba Quarter 2 community Buea-Cameroon, to create a system where kids gather to exchange storybooks amongst themselves, read and discuss on them. Thus nourishing their tender curiosity, creativity and intelligence.
In a world where guns are considered power, let’s shield children away from violence with books. These small wins for them like for us, build our great story. Ashunganya N.N Precious

Saturday the 25th was the the third in a row where we gathered with a few children in the Wonjumba community. Trying to impact them with the love for reading. Alongside exploring with them stories of young kids around Africa like taking Beautiful initiatives In empowering the continent.
This children like many others around the globe are capable. All we need to do is point the torch in the right direction and give them to hold.

Yesterday was day 1; of the “children's story club” which falls under the “creative hub” branch of “MY FUTURE TOMORROW”. We had 15 children who joined us. It wasn’t easy but worth it. Through the Children story club (CSC). We aim at bringing children closer to the knowledge enclosed in books by reading story books with them and consequently encouraging them to learn how to read and write. Hopefully, after a considerable number of sessions we will be having young authors from the club.
It's important to keep kids busy with skills that build them. But of course reading without playing makes Jack a dull boy. So, we had a fun session with them which involved the creation of two teams. The winning team was that who was able to arrange all 26 letters of the alphabet in order in the least possible time.
We're anxiously looking forward to upcoming Saturdays. We're grateful to the parents of the Wonjumba community for trusting us with their kids by encouraging them to join the CSC and we are especially grateful to the quarter head of Wonjumba for providing us with the gathering space.
