L'effervescence est montée d'un cran à l'aéroport international de Yaoundé-Nsimalen lors de l’arrivée sur le sol camerounais du virtuose américain du saxophone, Kirk Whalum. Accueilli chaleureusement par le comité d'organisation de la 26ième édition du Yaoundé Jazz Festival (YA-JAZZ) et des représentants, le lauréat de Grammy Awards a immédiatement conquis les cœurs par son humilité et son sourire légendaire. Dès ses premiers pas dans la capitale, l’icône de la musique mondiale a affiché sa joie de fouler la terre camerounaise, marquant le coup d'envoi d’un séjour historique qui a débuté par ses Masterclasses des 4 et 5 juin 2026, en prélude aux grands rendez-vous de novembre. From his very first steps in the capital, the global music icon expressed his joy at treading Camerounian soil, marking the kickoff of a historic stay that began with his Masterclasses on June 4 and 5, 2026, ahead of the main events in November. La Masterclass dispensée par la légende du jazz américain Kirk Whalum a marqué d'une pierre blanche la 26ième édition du Yaounde Jazz Festival (Ya-Jazz).
Tenues les 4 et 5 juin 2026 au Centre Culturel Ubuntu, ces sessions d'échanges de haut niveau ont suscité un engouement et un intérêt exceptionnels au sein de la communauté musicale camerounaise. Organisées grâce au précieux soutien de l’Ambassade des États-Unis en République du Cameroun, elles ont offert une opportunité unique de transmission culturelle et technique.
UNE OPPORTUNITÉ D'APPRENTISSAGE INTERGÉNÉRATIONNELLE ET MULTISECTORIELLE
La force majeure de cette Masterclass réside dans son inclusivité totale. Kirk Whalum, lauréat de Grammy Awards, ne s’est pas contenté de s'adresser à une élite. Des ateliers interactifs ont été ouverts à plusieurs profils :
Artistes débutants : Ils ont acquis des bases rigoureuses et une solide dose d’inspiration.
