En cette journée mondiale de l'hygiène menstruelle, visant à briser les tabous et à lutter contre la précarité menstruelle , notre association AFAMODEC témoigne de toute son implication à la cause de la condition des femmes surtout celles en situation de précarité. C'est précisément cet engagement qui nous anime au quotidien. Pour marquer cette journée essentielle, nous tenons à jeter un regard rétrospectif sur une action concrète et marquante que nous avons menée.
En 2024, notre association AFAMODEC a eu l'immense honneur de co-organiser un projet solidaire et transformateur à Dschang ( Ouest ,Cameroun) : « Safe Menstruation for IDPs », dédié à la gestion de l'hygiène menstruelle et à l'autonomisation des jeunes filles et mamans déplacées internes (IDPs) de la région du Nord-Ouest.
Pendant 3 jours intenses de formation et de partage, nous avons accueilli 60 participantes exceptionnelles autour d'objectifs cruciaux :
🧠 Éducation et Sensibilisation :
Des échanges profonds ont été menés sur le cycle menstruel et les bonnes attitudes à adopter. Nous avons mis un point d'honneur à briser les tabous en insistant sur l'importance cruciale de la communication mère-fille concernant la sexualité et les menstruations, qui restent avant tout un processus physiologique naturel.
🧵 Atelier Pratique & Éco-responsable :
Place à la pratique ! Les participantes ont appris à fabriquer leurs propres serviettes hygiéniques lavables et réutilisables. Une solution doublement gagnante : économique (utilisables pendant plus d'un an avec des tissus abordables) et respectueuse de notre environnement. 🌱
💡 Une passerelle vers l'entrepreneuriat :
En seulement quelques heures, ces femmes et jeunes filles ont fait preuve d'un talent remarquable. Au-delà de l'hygiène, ce savoir-faire représente une formidable opportunité de micro-entrepreneuriat pour leur autonomie financière !
🎓 Une clôture mémorable :
La formation s'est achevée en beauté par une cérémonie de remise des certificats présidée par le Délégué Départemental des Affaires Sociales de la Ménoua, qui a vivement encouragé les participantes à exploiter ces nouvelles compétences.

On this World Menstrual Hygiene Day, aimed at breaking taboos and fighting period poverty, our association AFAMODEC demonstrates its full commitment to the cause of women's conditions, especially those in vulnerable situations.
This very commitment drives our daily actions. To mark this essential day, we want to take a look back at a concrete and impactful initiative we conducted.
In 2024, our association AFAMODEC had the immense honor of co-organizing a supportive and transformative project in Dschang( West, Cameroon ): "Safe Menstruation for IDPs". This initiative was dedicated to menstrual hygiene management and the empowerment of young girls and mothers who are Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from the North-West region of Cameroon.
During 3 intense days of training and sharing, we welcomed 60 exceptional participants focused on crucial goals:
🧠 Education & Awareness:
Deep discussions were held regarding the menstrual cycle and the right attitudes to adopt. We made it a priority to break the taboos by emphasizing the vital importance of mother-daughter communication regarding sexuality and menstruation—which is, above all, a natural physiological process.
🧵 Practical & Eco-friendly Workshop:
Time for practice! Participants learned how to create their own washable and reusable sanitary pads. This represents a double-win solution: highly economical (usable for over a year using affordable fabrics) and deeply respectful of our environment. 🌱
💡 A Gateway to Entrepreneurship:
In just a few hours, these women and young girls demonstrated remarkable skill. Beyond basic hygiene, this know-how serves as a fantastic micro-entrepreneurship opportunity to foster their financial independence!
🎓 A Memorable Closing Ceremony:
The training concluded beautifully with a certificate award ceremony presided over by the Divisional Delegate of Social Affairs for Menoua, who warmly encouraged the participants to leverage these new skills.
