The SHARPER Project has launched in Nigeria, South Africa and Uganda, and now, it is taking its official next step in Cameroon.

Africa needs health research and pandemic preparedness systems that are locally grounded, ethically responsive and capable of strengthening health-system resilience.

SHARPER brings together African researchers, institutions, policymakers and other stakeholders to contribute to this agenda.

A successful and memorable conference was held from May 4–5, 2026 at University of Yaoundé I in honour of Prof. Godfrey B. Tangwa

Under the theme “Decolonizing African Epistemologies: Engaging with the Philosophy of Godfrey B. Tangwa,” the event brought together scholars, professors, students, researchers, and former students to reflect on African knowledge systems and celebrate the life and work of Prof. Tangwa.

The conference created space for meaningful discussions on African philosophy, ethics, education, and the importance of African perspectives in knowledge production.

It was also inspiring to see many of Prof. Tangwa’s former students, now doctors, lecturers, and professors return to honour a teacher and mentor who has shaped so many lives.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this important gathering and to Prof. Tangwa for his lasting impact on education and African scholarship.

SCHOLARS, STUDENTS CELEBRATE THE LEGACY OF PROF. GODFREY B. TANGWA AT UNIVERSITY OF YAOUNDÉ I.

An atmosphere of honour, gratitude and admiration filled the Department of Philosophy at University of Yaoundé I this Monday May 4th, 2026, as professors, former and current students gathered to celebrate the remarkable legacy of Prof. Godfrey B. Tangwa a philosophy professor at the university of Ydé1.
The colourful ceremony, held at the Department of Pedagogy, paid tribute to Prof. Tangwa for his outstanding academic contributions, integrity, honesty, wisdom and the priceless knowledge he has transmitted to generations of students over the years.
The event brought together men and women who once sat under his lectures and mentorship and who today have become professors, administrators and influential figures serving society in different capacities. Their presence was a strong testimony of the lasting impact Prof. Tangwa has had on countless lives through education and moral leadership.

The ceremony was marked by emotional speeches, words of appreciation and glowing tributes describing Prof. Tangwa as a symbol of excellence, discipline and intellectual inspiration within and beyond the university community.
Deeply touched by the honour bestowed on him, Prof. Godfrey B. Tangwa expressed heartfelt gratitude to the organisers and participants for recognising his lifelong service to humanity and education.
Beyond celebrating one man, the event served as a powerful reminder that true greatness lies in the positive legacy one leaves behind. The honour given to Prof. Tangwa clearly demonstrates that genuine hard work, dedication and impact may take time to blossom, but they are never forgotten.
