The Cameroon government has launched a program to train 1,000 youths in excavator operation, crane operation, welding, cybersecurity, AI, and hacking, among others.
The program, spearheaded by the Secondary Education and Skills Development Project (SESDP), is fully funded as it covers training fees, insurance, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), individual small professional equipment, and certification assessment fees.
It will run for three to six months and will focus only on digital technology, welding, and the operation of heavy construction equipment.
To benefit from this program, applicants must be Cameroonians, between the ages of 15 and 35 for Digital Technology and Welding, or 18 and 40 for Heavy Construction Equipment Operation; mentally sound; and physically fit.
The required qualifications are a Vocational Aptitude Certificate, GCE O/L, Vocational Qualification Certificate, Vocational Qualification Diploma, GCE A/L, GCE A/L +2, or others, as applicable.
Those interested are expected to fill out the form on the website https://buff.ly/gYMcDO6, and provide a photocopy of their birth certificate, a photocopy of a valid National Identity Card or receipt, a photocopy of the diploma/certificate corresponding to the required level for the selected training, a cover letter addressed to the General Coordinator of SESDP, a signed and dated CV, and parental authorization for minors.
The deadline for submission of files is June 12.
According to the program coordinator, the selection will be automatic on the digital platform based on validated criteria. However, special consideration will be given to young people with relevant work experience in their chosen profession.
