and with the support of the Goethe Institute Kamerun and the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a Cultural Dialogue on the 9th of May 2026 in Tombel, KupeMuanenguba Division.

This cultural dialogue brought together over 15 cultural groups in KupeMuanenguba to discuss and engage on inter-community tolerance, culture and other pathways to building trust, unity and peace in our communities.

According to Mr. Berinyuy Cajetan Tardzenyuy, a Human Rights Activist and one of our resource persons, our diversity is an asset and we should learn to accept one another's identity; food, dressing, traditional dance, culture, etc. and denounce violence in all forms. He also encouraged community leaders and representatives of social groups to organized inter-tribal dialogues and engagements to promote social cohesion and peace.

Mr. Berinyuy further highlighted that Cameroon is blessed with over 250 ethnic groups and beautiful cultures and that our diversity should be our greatest wealth, not a weapon for division.

Lately, online hate speech is trying to make us forget who we are. Trolls use social media to build walls between us. But when we stop talking about each other and start talking with each other, hate loses its power.

Cultural dialogue is the bridge to peace. It helps us see that behind different languages and traditions, we all want the same things: safety, progress, and a better future for our youths.

During the discussions, participants affirmed that activities like football games and other sporting events, inter-ethnic marriages, religious gatherings, and other cultural events promote social cohesion and unite members of the community.

This cultural dialogue unfolded under the canopy of the Connected Cameroon Project, an initiative of the Goethe Institute Kamerun, supported by the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Hate speech destroys the social fabric of our communities.

This digital cruelty destroys the social fabric of our communities. It breaks the trust between us, fuels fear, and turns neighbours into enemies.

When we allow hate spread online, real people suffer offline. Our youth deserve a future built on peace, opportunities, and unity - not a digital battlefield of insults. We cannot let online trolls destroy the hospitality that defines us.

Peace is not a silent wish; it is a conscious action. Let’s protect each other and build a safer Cameroon online.

Hateful comments and messages destroy the social fabric of our neighbourhoods.

The "stranger" you attack on social media today could be the very "neighbour" who rushes to your aid tomorrow. Distance disappears when we log online, but our words have real, offline consequences

Kill the rumors - Stop forwarding unverified texts that target specific groups.

Families leave their hometowns due to hardships, conflicts, and new opportunities. They arrive in our communities as strangers, looking for , , and a place to belong. But when anonymous keyboard warriors spread hate speech, xenophobia, and tribalism online, they build walls instead of bridges.

Call to Action:

*Block the Hate, Build the Neighbourhood
*Filter your feed
*Refuse to like, comment on, or share posts that demonize minority groups or newcomers.
*Report divisive content
*Instantly flag anonymous profiles that try to turn communities against each other
*Extend a digital hand
*Use your platform to share welcoming messages and resources for new community members.
*Correct misinformation - politely drop facts under hateful comment threads to debunk harmful stereotypes.

Kindness costs nothing, but hate speech costs lives. Let's make our digital spaces safe for everyone.

Hate speech often hides behind anonymous profiles and fake names. But the pain it causes is not invisible.

The victims are real people. They are our friends, neighbours, siblings, and coworkers. When we allow digital cruelty to spread, it doesn't just hurt one person. It poisons our entire online community.

It erodes trust, fuels fear, and makes social media unsafe for everyone. Anonymity is not an excuse for cruelty.

Our generation is too smart to be manipulated by anonymous hate. We need , , and - not digital warfare

How Can We Fight Back Together?

*Refuse to reply
*Do not argue with anonymous trolls
*Report instantly
*Block and flag hateful accounts immediately
*Check on victims
*Send a private message of support to those targeted
*Promote accountability
*Demand safer digital spaces from platform leaders

Connected Camero(o/u)n is mobilizing youths across North West and South West towards a safer digital space.

Always share and information. Choose words that not those that . Words hold power. They can unite communities or tear them apart.

Today, online hate speech is rising and causing real-world harm. We must stop it. Hate speech targets people based on identity. It spreads fear, sparks violence, and silences voices. We can create a safer digital world together.

How to Take Action Now?

*Pause before sharing
*Check the facts first
*Do not engage but rather report it where you see it
*Report the malice
*Use platform tools to flag hate
*Support the targeted
*Stand up for victims online
*Share positive stories and narratives
*Flood feeds with kindness and empathy
*Let’s use our clicks to build respect
*Speak up against cyberbullying and discrimination

Don't forget - this initiative is part of the Connected Camero(o/u)n Project of the Goethe Institute Kamerun, supported by the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Stop online violence - keyboard courage should not mean cruelty...

We have all seen it - a heated discussion on Facebook or WhatsApp immediately turns into a vicious attack. A personal disagreement turns into tribalistic slurs. A political opinion becomes a call for violence.

Too many people are hiding behind their screens, using "keyboard courage" to inflict real-life pain.

Let’s be clear: stigmatizing, threatening, and dehumanizing others is not free speech. It is hate speech. When we use social media to incite hatred or share unverified rumors, we are not just posting words - we are flames that threaten the and unity of our nation.

There is an urgent need to redefine "Courage" Online:
-Courage is engaging in respectful dialogue, even when we disagree.
-Courage is fact-checking before clicking
-Share to stop the spread of misinformation.
-Courage is saying when you see it, rather than staying silent.

Let us not let screen anonymity make us . Your words have power. Use them to build, not to destroy.
