DeWise Foundation, in partnership with Mboa Hub, trained over 100 young people from Yaoundรฉ in Climate Justice and Advocacy approaches during the Open Dreams Summer Academy 2026

A powerful highlight of the session was the story of ๐–๐š๐ง๐ ๐š๐ซ๐ข ๐Œ๐š๐š๐ญ๐ก๐š๐ข the first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Her courage in planting trees, defending the environment, and standing up for her community deeply motivated the students and showed them that climate justice requires both awareness and bold action.

This session aligns with DeWise Foundationโ€™s objective of empowering children in climate education and sustainability.

When leaders like Wangari Maathai inspire young people, they become stronger advocates for clean energy access and healthier communities.

With our solar panels successfully installed, we are moving to the next crucial phase of the project: electrical installation.

This phase is pivotal to bringing the cold storage system to life. The wiring and inverter system will ensure that the direct current (DC) generated by the solar panels is safely converted into alternating current (AC) that can power the WiseCool cold storage facility.

With the wiring and electrical installation now completed, we are taking another important step forward: earthing. This essential safety measure will help protect the system, equipment, and the people using the facility.

Step by step, we are turning clean energy into reliable solutions for healthcare.

This system will help preserve temperature-sensitive medications and vaccines for rural communities without reliable electricity, powered by clean energy and monitored via IoT.

Over the past weeks of the Yaoundรฉ hub, DeWise Foundation joined with Youths and Contemporary Development to facilitate sessions on , , and for over 100 high school students.

โ€ข Week 1 featured introductions and a core session on the scientific perspective of climate change and the role of renewable energy.
โ€ข Week 2 focused on systems change and behavioural science for climate action, while introducing great environmental leaders.
โ€ข Week 3 was about a deeper exploration of the role of clean energy systems in combating climate change.

These sessions align with DeWise Foundationโ€™s mission to empower youths in clean energy technology through the initiative. They also strengthen the foundation for our complementary solutions: , which uses solar power and IoT temperature monitoring to keep vaccines and temperature-sensitive medications viable for more than 365 days in off-grid communities.

By equipping over 100 high school students with both scientific understanding and clean-energy skills, we are building a pipeline of young innovators ready to lead sustainable change.

Meet Serena-Axelle Nga Ebode, a Biomedical Engineering student at the University of Miami in the United States of America, with a clear mission: transforming medical technology in her home country, Cameroon.

Her passion for biomedical device innovation found the perfect outlet through an internship with DeWise Foundationโ€™s project. Working hands-on to build a solar-powered cold storage unit with IoT monitoring, Serena-Axelle helped bring a sustainable solution to a critical challenge, preserving medicines and vaccines for a local community hospital.

For Serena-Axelle, this was a meaningful step toward the future sheโ€™s building: one where innovative, accessible technology strengthens healthcare systems back home.
