🌍 WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2026: KELLENA PARTICIPATES IN NKAMBE (DONGA-MANTUNG DIVISION)

KELLENA joined sister organizations to participate in the Lunch/Launch of the One-Week Activities marking the World Environment Day (2026) in Nkambe, under the theme: “Inspired by Nature, For Climate, For Our Future.”

The program was jointly launched by the Divisional Delegate of Environment for Donga-Mantung and the Illustrious, Visionary Mayor of Nkambe Central.

Key activities to be carried out included:
- Tree planting of indigenous and fruit trees to help restore ecosystems
- Clean-up campaigns across towns, villages, and schools
- Radio talks on the theme of the year to raise awareness and encourage climate action in Donga-Mantung Division

During this first quarter of the year 2026, KELLENA identified and registered 127 children with disabilities across the communities in Donga Mantung Division through community-based rehabilitation outreach. Of these, 48 were out of school, 32 lacked assistive devices, and 71 had never accessed formal safeguarding services.

These Data helps us to tailor holistic interventions.

Hearts in Action Cameroon (HIACA) and KELLENA Takes a Stand for Sustainable Agriculture.

Today, at our head office in Nkambe, HIACA in partnership with KELLENA proudly distributed huckleberry, okra, and pepper seeds to 7 Common Initiative Groups (CIGs) as part of our commitment to promote smart agriculture and combat poverty.

Our event included vital education and sensitization sessions on topics such as:
- Smart Agriculture 🌍
- Climate Change 🌦️
- Gender-Based Violence (GBV) 🚺
- Child Protection 👶
- Mental Health 🧠
- Community Cohesion 🤝

These seeds will not only be propagated by the initial groups but will also be redistributed to many more, ensuring a ripple effect of empowerment and sustainability.

Today, as we celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women worldwide, we must also confront the harsh realities that many face. Gender-based violence (GBV) is a silent epidemic that leaves deep emotional and physical scars.

Behind every statistic, there’s a story—a woman who has endured trauma, pain, and isolation. We cannot remain silent while sisters, mothers, and daughters suffer.

Let us stand together, raise our voices, and demand change. It’s time to break the cycle of violence, support survivors, and create a world where every woman feels safe and valued.

No Child Should Learn on the Cold, Hard Ground: An Urgent Appeal for the Children of Mbouroukou

In the lush, rolling hills somewhere in Cameroon, there is a small wooden structure that stands as a symbol of hope and a testament to resilience. It is the Ecole Publique des Monts Mbouroukou. But inside its weathered walls, a heartbreaking reality unfolds every single day.

Imagine a classroom where the "desks" are the bare, dusty earth. Imagine a school of over 130 eager young minds crammed into just three small rooms, with fewer than five benches to share among them.

- The Reality of "Sitting in Class"
For the children of Mbouroukou, "going to school" doesn’t mean sitting at a desk with a notebook. It means:
- Carrying your own stool from home, miles across hilly terrain, just to have a place to sit.
- Sitting on the cold, damp floor for hours, straining to see a chalkboard that is literally falling apart.
- For children with disabilities, the struggle is even more profound, as they navigate an environment that offers no support for their physical needs.

These children have the same dreams as any others, they want to be doctors, teachers, lawyers, and leaders too. They show up every day, despite the lack of basic dignity, because they believe that education is their only way forward. But how can we expect them to thrive when they are denied even a place to sit?

We Cannot Turn a Blind Eye;
The sight of these empty, dirt-floored classrooms is a call to action for all of us. No child should have their potential limited by the lack of a simple wooden bench.
