Tondig Njangi, How it Ended
Within the Tondig Sports and Social Club, there's a njangi scheme that was introduced in 2023 after Tondig F.C emerged champions of the Withgodep Foundation organised Soccer for Hope Tournament on the Mbengwi Municipal Stadium.
The njangi scheme was introduced to keep the team and fans in tact. With humble beginnings of 2.000F monthly, then to 5.000F monthly and later 10.000F after every two weeks, the scheme has been growing in membership and budget.
On Sunday December 14 2025, members gathered at People's Club, Tonemba to mark the end of the scheme and prepare for the launching of a new round of play. From the little interest generated from loans and fines, they were able to obtain vegetable oil, soap, maggi and salt for each member to go back home with and commune with their families this festive season.
Tangwan Bernard, the Njangi's president thanked all for successfully playing from start till end. To him the main success of every such scheme lies in every member playing and benefiting what they're due. He encouraged more players and supporters of Tondig (Side Down) to join the njangi scheme in the next upcoming new round.
The treasurer was also appreciated for diligently keeping members savings in tact contrary to others where by this time, there's trouble, quarrelling, fighting and at times the last beneficiaries can't have what they're due, members can't have all of what they saved throughout the year and some treasurers disappear from public view because of the dirty games they've played.
Within the just ended round of play, members testified that the njangi money they berefitted helped them a lot in life. Some invested in business, others paid their children's fees, took care of their health needs, bought set chairs for their living rooms and other household items, installed solar electrification in their houses, solved other life challenges they had. There are a few too that are still wondering what they actually did with their money.
The njangi scheme is a subset of Tondig Sports and Social Club whose members are now planning to engage into farming. The Side Down boys and girls as they're fondly called have remained one of the most active youth group in Mbengwi. Throughout the year they're always in the news from one activity to another.
Their membership as we learnt is opens to all whether or not the person hails from any of the villages, communities that make up the Tondig zone of the Meta clan. Once anyone buys their ideologies and is ready to follow their activities after fulfilling registration formalities, then the person is considered a member.
