GBV data carries real human stories, not just statistics.Every record represents a survivor who has placed trust in a service provider, making ethical handling of information a critical responsibility.

The Integrated Youth Empowerment Center (IYEC) is currently participating in a five-day GBVIMS Data Experts Training organized by Cameroon in collaboration with UNFPA Cameroon, bringing together GBV service providers from the Northwest and Southwest regions. The training focuses on strengthening safe, ethical, and survivor-centered approaches to GBV data collection, management, analysis, and sharing.

On Day 1, participants were introduced to the foundations of GBVIMS , including its purpose, development, and role as a global standard for managing GBV data. Key sessions also covered Personal Security Awareness and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), reinforcing accountability and protection principles for all service providers.

Practical work included the use of Intake and Consent Forms, where participants engaged with case-based exercises to understand safe data collection processes. The day also introduced coding and classification demonstrating how GBV incidents are structured for analysis while ensuring survivor confidentiality is protected.
