In commemoration of International Women’s Day, VOTNEG In partnership with WOMAN and other organizations proudly hosted the second edition of the Gathering of Visionary Women (GOVIW) on March 7th at the VOTNEG Multipurpose Center. This year’s event centered on the timely theme: "Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls." The gathering served as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, professional networking, and collaborative growth. At the heart of the event was a high-impact session titled "Women and the SDGs," facilitated By Dr. Dilys Orock Tataw president and founder of Women Advancing Nations. The session explored the 17 Sustainable Development Goals through a gender-focused lens.

The Women received in-depth insights into the global 2030 Agenda and identified the specific goals most relevant to their lives and livelihoods. The session ignited an action-oriented mindset, illustrating the indispensable role women play in localizing and advancing these global targets. By the concluding of the session, Women were challenged to serve as SDG Ambassadors, championing sustainable development within their unique spheres of influence.

Every woman left the gathering not just with new information, but with the tools and empowerment necessary to drive meaningful global change starting from their local communities.

Women Advancing Nations (WOMAN) is a premier, women-led organization headquartered in Limbe, dedicated to the holistic empowerment of women and girls. Our mission is centered on the core pillars of self-discovery, education, sustainable entrepreneurship, wellness, and leadership.

Our Strategic Commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

In alignment with the United Nations 2030 Agenda, Women Advancing Nations has established a strategic partnership with VOTNEG to catalyze awareness and drive grassroots action. Our initiatives prioritize four critical goals that disproportionately impact the lives of women and girls:

- SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being
- SDG 4: Quality Education
- SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
- SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
- SDG 17: Partnerships for the goals

Under the visionary leadership of our founder, Dr. Tataw Dilys Orock, we have remained at the forefront of public advocacy. Her efforts in educating diverse populations on these global objectives have yielded measurable and transformative results across the region.

Our Framework of Partnership & Implementation:

To ensure the success of this collaboration, we utilize a multi-faceted approach to community engagement and institutional support:

- Digital Advocacy: Executing high-impact online campaigns to mobilize global and local audiences.
- Event Management: Hosting and facilitating SDG-focused symposiums and forums on behalf of VOTNEG.
- Educational Outreach: Conducting direct interventions and seminars within academic institutions.
- Capacity Building: Developing and training a robust network of volunteers to lead local initiatives.
- Community Liaison: Acting as a strategic bridge between schools, local leadership, and community stakeholders.
- Research Coordination: Overseeing data collection and analysis to inform evidence-based social interventions.

Dr. Tataw Dilys president & founder of Women Advancing Nations (WOMAN) in partnership with VOTNEG delivered a brilliant lecture about SDG 6 to a host of students.

The lack of safely managed water (SDG 6) remains a critical barrier for 2.2 billion people—including many in Limbe, Cameroon—triggering a dangerous cycle of waterborne diseases like cholera and typhoid.

Beyond the physical damage on public health, "water poverty" severely disrupts the community's social and economic structure, as students and workers lose vital time trekking long distances to fetch water.

By advocating for improved infrastructure, we can eliminate chronic absenteeism and reclaim the productivity necessary for every member of the community to thrive and live with dignity.

Did you know? "Water is Life" but in Limbe and other towns it feels like a luxury in many of our neighborhoods.

SDG 6 isn't just a global goal; it’s a Limbe necessity.

The Stat: 2.2B people globally lack access to safe water. Locally, our pipes are aging faster than we can fix them.

The Reality: When the taps go dry, the burden falls on our youths, women and students who have to trek long distances to springs and other water sources carrying heavy buckets.

VOTNEG Limbe: SDG Awareness & Action Campaign Officially Launched! This initiative is rooted in the core mission: transforming the world by empowering youth to become proactive problem-solving agents.

At VOTNEG, it is believe that the youth aren’t just the future—they are the current "Problem-Solving Agents" the world needs. Today, we turned that belief into action! We were privileged to kick off our campaign at GBHS Limbe. A huge thank you to the Principal, Mme. Elive Elisabeth epse Lyonga, for her warm reception and for prioritizing global citizenship in her school.

What happened in 7 minutes?

Storytelling: We shared the lesson of "Enanga" to highlight the importance of awareness.
Localization: We moved from "Big Grammar" to identifying real problems in Limbe.
Partnership: The GBHS UNESCO Team joined us on stage to reveal the 17 SDGs to over 2000+ students.

This is only the beginning. From one school to the next, we are building a Legacy.

Did you know ? the global economy is out of balance:

The Pay Gap: Women earn less than 30% of all labor income globally.

The Time Gap: Women do 2.5x more unpaid work (cooking, cleaning, and caregiving) than men.

The Reality: Women are working more hours in total, but because much of that work happens at home, they are being left behind financially.
