*Limbe I Council celebrates 8th African Civil Status Day with the legalisation of some Marriages and Distribution of over 400 Free Birth certificates*

The 14th edition of African Decentralization and Local Development and 8th African Civil Status Day was celebrated on Friday August 8, 2025 at the Limbe I Council hall.

The Day that is celebrated yearly on August 10, organised by Limbe I Council, took place at the council Banquet hall with theme 'Building Resilient Communities through inclusive Decentralization and Advanced Development'

In her welcome speech, Limbe I Council Mayor , Mbwaye Florence Eposi mentioned the fact that Limbe I Council the town of friendship decided to celebrate the day by organising Mass Marriages, Distribution of Free Birth certificates and distributing of health equipment to hospitals.

Highlight of the celebration was the presentation on Sensitisation on Digitalization of Civil Status and Vital statistics from the South West Regional chief of Bunec, Mr Walters Ndzerem, Distribution of Free Birth certificates by mayor Mbwaye Eposi Florence, and Legalisation of Free Marriages.

The celebration witnessed the presence of the Assistant Divisional officer of Limbe i subdivision, first and second deputy mayors of Limbe I council, South West Regional chief of Bunec, Mr Walters Ndzerem, Family and love ones of the Couple amongst others.

The pathfinder mayor of Limbe I council has done it again. She was awarded best female mayor of the year by the Cameroon English language newspapers publishers association CENPA for giving meaning to female leadership in president Biya new decentralization vision by providing social basic amenities and promoting social cohesion in the Limbe I municipality

The Limbe I Council today the 9th of August 2024 together with their technical partner BUNEC organize the civil status open door day to showcase the various activities of the civil status office.
The 1st deputy Lord Mayor Motomby Henry advised the population on the importance of civil status documents such as Birth, Marriage and Death certificates. In his words ‘ Life starts with a birth certificate and ends with a Death certificate and you cannot be a registered human without a birth certificate ’
On the part of the regional chief of BUNEC southwest region Mr Walters assured the population of a fast, steady and free issuance of all civil status documents and even promise the population of the complete digitalization of the civil status office in the months which is a plus to the Limbe I Council.

*Limbe I Council takes a giant step in the implementation of Effective Digitilisation of Civil Status Registry*

A Delegation from the National Civil Status Registration known in it's french acronym as BUNEC, Yaounde, accompanied by the Regional Chief of BUNEC South West Region, Mr Ndzerem Walter Yuyun were at the Tiko Council on Wednesday, July 17th,2024, to evaluate infrastructures at the level of Civil Status office under the canopy of " Effective Digitalization of Civil Status in Cameroon "
The Delegation also access the level of knowledge that both the Executive Board members and the Civil Status Secretaries had on computerization or computer skills.

The working Session that witnessed the presence of the first and Second Deputy Mayors, Motomby Henry and Ndongo Beatrice and Chief of civil Status Bureau, Mrs. Nga Ngono Doris ended with the BUNEC Delegation gathering Statistics at the Limbe I Council Civil Status that will lead to new programs to upgrade the office in order to successfully implement the Effective Digitalization program at the Limbe I Council and the nation,Cameroon 🇨🇲 at large.

Today the gorgeous ladies of Limbe I Council led by their ever present Pathfinder mayor Mbwaye Eposi Florence and the 2nd deputy mayor Marthe Beatrice epse Ndongo and some female councilors gave the crowd an outstanding performance today at the community field with thier colorful dressings and beautiful hair style.
This was to crown the women's day day activities which started with some various competitions.

Today the 7th March 2024, the women of faith paid a working visit to the Pathfinder mayor Mbwaye Eposi Florence to pray and encourage her to keep on doing the good works and not to relent her effort for her reward is from God.

It has always been in the Pathfinder mayor's agenda to organize mass marriages in the Limbe I municipality atleast twice a year since she took office in 2020, this year has not been any different. As a gift to the women on the occasion for their celebration of their 39th edition of women's day with theme " invest in women: accelerate progress". The Pathfinder mayor Mbwaye Eposi Florence on the eve of the women's day join together 23 couples at the Limbe I council chmabers.
On her part, the Lord Mayor encourage the population of Limbe I Municipality that as long as she is in power she will do her utmost best to eradicate "came we stay"
