For millions of women and girls around the world, access to water isn’t just a daily chore it’s a barrier to education, health, and opportunity.

When women & girls have reliable water, they can go to school, start businesses, lead community projects, and take part in decisions that shape their future. Every tap, borehole, and sanitation improvement is more than infrastructure; it’s dignity, equality, and hope.

So let’s remember: where water flows, equality grows.

We celebrate the strength, brilliance, and resilience of women and girls everywhere. But celebration alone is not enough because true equality requires rights, justice, and deliberate action.

No matter the resistance or the weight of inequality, including the persistent sexism and the discouraging political climate, we refuse to be silenced or sidelined. United, we forge ahead for the full rights and empowerment of every woman and girl.

We are happy and honored to share that our founder, Sakwe Mbone, has been selected as the winner of the Indigenous and Grassroots Award at the Inaugural African Women in Water Awards 2026. This recognition highlights her leadership, impact, innovation, and contribution to Africa’s water and sanitation sector.

The award was presented during the official opening ceremony of the 23rd International Congress and Exhibition of the African Water and Sanitation Association(AFWASA AAEA ), held at Yaoundé Palais des Congrès, Cameroon, in February 2026.
This achievement celebrates the work we do at She’s STEM Foundation in building sustainable WASH systems in rural communities across Cameroon, with women and girls at the center as leaders and primary beneficiaries, creating a ripple effect of impact.

We are especially thankful to Euphresia l and Leticia Ackun Gender Specialist at AfWASA, whose support ensured that our founder was able to receive the award in person.

We also sincerely thank AFWASA AAEA , the Government of Cameroon, CAMWATER, the Awards Convening Team, the jury, and our partners (Cargill and Global Water Challenge ) and our incredible field teams. This honor reflects the collective impact we are creating to empower communities and champion women and girls as leaders in Africa’s water future.

As we close this breast cancer awareness month, we celebrate a woman whose life embodies resilience, compassion, and unwavering strength, Helen Niba Ngum, member of our Supervisory Board, humanitarian, and breast cancer survivor.

Helen’s journey has not been an easy one. She faced one of life’s hardest battles, breast cancer , with a courage that inspired everyone around her. Even during the most difficult moments of her battle, when her health was fragile and her strength was tested, Helen chose hope. She chose to keep going.

Rather than stepping back, she continued her humanitarian work, serving in Abyei with the United Nations, bringing comfort, leadership, and compassion to communities in need. Her dedication to others, even with challenging health is a testament to her extraordinary spirit.

She reminds us that true strength is not found in the absence of struggle, but in the choice to rise above it.

Today, we celebrate her not only as a survivor, but as a symbol of hope for women everywhere. Her life is a beautiful reminder that God is faithful, that early detection and treatment can save lives including her ability to create ripples of change that reach far beyond survivors.

Helen, thank you for your courage, your service, and your light. You remind us every day that healing, leadership, and love can exist in the same heart. 💗

Every October, pink ribbons appear everywhere, reminding us of the importance of early detection and support. But for many in the breast cancer community, this month also brings mixed emotions.
In Cameroon, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, with over 4,200 new cases and about 2,285 registered deaths in 2022. The five-year survival rate is just 30%, showing the urgent need for research, early detection, and access to treatment.

The term “pinkwashing” has been used to describe the practice of organisations using pink ribbons or breast cancer narratives in marketing without a commitment to transparency, research funding or structural change.

This October, let’s go beyond awareness. Let’s support evidence-based action that saves lives, not just pink campaigns. 💕

Minanga Pulcherie is not just a cocoa farmer; she’s a trailblazer!

She is a member of the Common Initiative Group (CIG) Main de la Terre, a women-led group with 35 women farming on 52 hectares of cocoa farmland with an average annual savings of 5,568,080 Xaf.

Trained and supported by She’s STEM Foundation, rural women like Pulcherie are not just farming; they’re transforming their communities through:
Financial literacy, gaining skills in bookkeeping, savings, and loan management.
Collective action, economic empowerment, generating income and creating safety nets for their families.

“Thanks to Main de la Terre, I’ve started renovating my kitchen. I’m looking forward to the peak cocoa season so I can complete it with the help of the other women. We support one another, not just financially, but also through ‘tontine’ during harvesting and semi-processing.”Pulcherie shares

This years international day of the rural woman highlights the importance of supporting rural women like Pucherie to ensure they have equal access to resources, opportunities, and decision-making processes, in order to foster sustainable agricultural practices and food systems across Africa. We must continue to invest in our rural women.

Being a girl should never determine what you can achieve, where you can go, or who you can become. Yet today, millions of girls are denied their rights and futures, especially in fragile and crisis-affected settings like ours in Cameroon.

- Did you know that girls aged 15–19 are twice as likely as boys to not be in education, employment or training.
- In fragile contexts, girls are 90% more likely to be out of school than in stable settings evident in the Far North, South West and North West regions of Cameroon.
- 1 in 5 young women aged 20–24 were married as children, with rates nearly doubled in crisis settings.
- Nearly 1 in 4 adolescent girls who have been in relationships have faced intimate partner violence.
- Self-harm remains a leading cause of death among adolescent girls in the last 20 years.

Yet, we believe change is possible. Investing in girls’ health, education, safety, and leadership transforms not only their lives but entire communities and economies.
And so, we take this opportunity to amplify their voices and rights by demanding dedicated funding for girls’ health, education, and well-being.

Since 1994, World Teachers’ Day has been celebrated each year to honor teachers worldwide and to reaffirm the vital role they play in shaping inclusive, equitable, and resilient education systems. It also commemorates the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation on the Status of Teachers, a landmark framework defining teachers’ rights, responsibilities, and professional standards.

This year, the focus is on collaboration. Too often, teaching remains marked by isolation, limited support, and fragmented systems. Yet when teachers are empowered to work together, sharing expertise, mentoring peers, and building networks, they unlock transformative potential for themselves, their students, and society as a whole.

On this World Teachers’ Day, we call for:

Stronger policies and environments that enable teacher collaboration.
Greater investment in teacher well-being and professional growth.
Recognition of teachers as leaders, innovators, and changemakers in education.

At She’s STEM Foundation, we celebrate the extraordinary dedication of teachers and recommit to supporting their work in transforming education for all.
To every teacher: thank you for showing up, for inspiring confidence, for guiding us not just through textbooks but through life itself. You are mentors, role models, and changemakers, and the world is better because of you.

Despite relentless rainfall, fallen trees, and treacherous roads, our team pressed on because the community of Oveng needed us. What stood in our way was no match for what stood to be gained: clean, accessible water for an entire community.

Regardless of the challenges, we are happy to announce that we have successfully handed over a solar-powered water point to the people of Oveng in the South Region of Cameroon. The structure is projected to serve over 2,341 residents, including school children and the village health center, transforming daily life in ways that are immediate and long-lasting.

For the children, it means more time in school and less time walking long distances to fetch water. For the health center, it means safer hygiene practices and better patient care. For the entire community, it means dignity, health, and resilience
This is what it looks like when innovation meets determination. We didn’t wait for perfect conditions. We showed up, stood strong, and delivered. Because every community deserves access to basic needs, and every challenge is worth overcoming when lives are on the other side.
