A successful emergency surgery at Douala's Laquintinie Hospital has been celebrated for saving the life of a 20-year-old man who was pierced in the chest and abdomen by reinforcing steel bars (rebars).

The operation was conducted within 45 minutes of the patient's arrival, according to communication from the hospital.

Dear parents, please:
- Know where your children are at all times.
- Teach them never to follow strangers or keep “secret touches.”
- Listen when they complain about someone.
- Watch over what they see online and who they talk to.
- Stop leaving children unattended carelessly.
- Believe children when they speak up.
One conversation can save a child’s life.
One act of vigilance can prevent a lifetime trauma.
Let us protect our children before it becomes too late.
