Cameroonian innovator Zuo Bruno has built SkyDew, a platform delivering AI through simple SMS and USSD codes — meaning millions of Africans can now access AI without internet, apps or smartphones.

A farmer in Mali can text in Bambara about diseased crops and receive instant guidance.
A student in Nigeria can dial *247 # for free math help.
A health worker in Kenya can run a Swahili AI bot answering hundreds of questions daily.

The idea was born during Cameroon’s 93-day internet blackout, when millions suddenly lost access to digital services.

Today, SkyDew says it is active across all 54 African countries — turning ordinary mobile phones into AI tools.

“Grandma just got AI” — no WiFi, no smartphone, just a text message.

The SecureAfric page sat down with Zuo Bruno to discuss how Africa is building tech solutions designed for African realities.

The Douala International Airport is set to begin a 95 billion FCFA renovation on June that will see the structure upgraded into a global standard, Airports of Cameroon, known by its French acronym ADC, has announced.

ADC made the announcement recently following the final stakeholder meeting held at the airport.

According to them, the airport will undergo renovation in three phases, with phase one starting in June and expected to finish by June 2027.

Meanwhile, phase two will commence by February 2027.

Renovation works on phase one, which starts next month, focus on runways, taxiways, and increasing the parking areas space to 36,000m² and hangars.

Phase two will focus on enlarging terminal two to 30,000 m², adding more check-in points and luggage system while improving on passenger movement.

ADC said the designs are already available and that the company in charge of phase one had already moved the equipment to the site.

Two foreign companies from China and France are in charge of the reconstruction.

Once the works are done, ADC hopes to see 1.5 to 2.5 million passengers yearly.
