Yesterday, the Regional Delegate of Secondary Education for the North Region of Cameroon, Mr. Benjamin BOUSSA, welcomed two YES alumnae, Larissa Tchimbamne Boupeltcham and Anavai, who shared their inspiring journeys after spending an academic year in the United States with host families.

During this meeting, they reflected on the invaluable experiences they gained through the YES Program, such as cultural exchange and global citizenship, improved English language, leadership, and digital skills. The Regional Delegate congratulated the students for their exceptional achievements and exemplary representation of Cameroon on the international stage. He also encouraged them to continue striving for excellence and to use the knowledge, skills, and values they have acquired to contribute meaningfully to the development of Cameroon.

The YES Alumni community is proud to celebrate these young ambassadors whose stories continue to inspire the next generation of Cameroonian leaders.

On April 23, YES Alumni Cameroon team, headed by Lambe Yonkam Joseph successfully implemented the "Freedom250: Youth Leadership and Innovation for Community Impact" workshop as part of the Youth Service Day (YSD) initiative. The event was hosted by the U.S. Embassy Yaounde, and brought together 40 outstanding young leaders and alumni of seven U.S. sponsored programs in Cameroon.

Participants engaged in powerful discussions on leadership, entrepreneurship, AI and tech innovation for community impact. Participants also gained insights on America's 250th anniversary of independence and the U.S. Embassy's resources and opportunities for Cameroonian youth.

Last week, Cameroon YES Alumni successfully hosted the webinar “Speak to be Selected: Public Speaking Skills for Scholarships & Interviews.” The session empowered high school and university students with practical communication and interview skills inspired by U.S. exchange and scholarship experiences. Through real-life insights from YES alumni, participants learned how to speak with confidence, structure strong interview answers, and overcome nervousness in high-stakes interviews. This initiative reflects our continued commitment to giving back and using our YES experience to create positive change in our communities.
