CANU-Association for Care and Development

CANU Association Cameroon- a nonpolitical, non-religious and not for profit association- started in 2008 in Bafut North West Region Cameroon, as an assistance group to the aging. Its sole objective was to assist the aging with medical help, nutrition and provision of basic needs. Not long after, there was need to carter for the increasing number of underprivileged children especially orphans and street children. The group then decided not to limit its assistance only to the aging but also to include the vulnerable children-those who needed assistance. Since then, the group has been working with a number of widows and children (mostly orphans and marginalized children) including those that have physical disabilities. In the light of its activities, this group of benevolent young men and women attracted the attention of others who shared the goals and mission of the group. It was at this juncture that it was decided that an association be created to take “care of the aging, needy and the underprivileged” persons throughout the national territory. CANU was then created on the 27th April 2013 and it operates with Authorization No: 1220/2013/RDA/C19/SAAJP of 17th December 2013
