5 FACTS & 5 MYTHS ABOUT BLOOD DONATION YOU SHOULD KNOW!

At Ava-Care Outreach Foundation, we believe that every drop of blood is a drop of hope! Yet, so many people still hesitate to donate because of myths and fear. Let’s separate facts from fiction today 👇

---

5 FACTS ABOUT BLOOD DONATION

1. One donation can save up to 3 lives!
Your single act of kindness can help mothers during childbirth, accident victims, and children battling illnesses.

2. It takes less than 10 minutes to donate.
The actual blood draw is quick and simple — it’s one of the easiest ways to save lives.

3. Your body quickly replaces the blood you give.
Plasma is replaced in 24–48 hours, and red blood cells in a few weeks — your body is amazing at recovery!

4. Blood donation is 100% safe.
Sterile, single-use needles are used for each donor — there’s no risk of infection.

5. You can donate every 3–4 months.
Healthy adults can give blood several times a year to keep hospitals stocked and lives saved.

5 COMMON MYTHS ABOUT BLOOD DONATION

1. Myth: “I’ll feel weak for days after donating.”
Truth: Most donors feel perfectly fine after donating — just rest and stay hydrated.

2. Myth: “Blood donation hurts.”
Truth: It’s just a quick pinch — nothing compared to the joy of knowing you’ve saved a life.

3. Myth: “I can’t donate because I take medication.”
Truth: Only certain medications prevent donation. Talk to a medical professional to confirm.

4. Myth: “Only adults or old people need blood.”
Truth: Children, accident victims, and surgical patients often depend on donors like you.

5. Myth: “My donation won’t make a big difference.”
Truth: Every donor matters. Together, we can make blood shortages a thing of the past.
