Taking the Message to the Grassroots
What better day to stand before hundreds of incredible women than on a day the world pauses to celebrate them!
This International Women's Day, we went beyond celebration. We went into action. In continuation of our ongoing campaign on teenage pregnancy prevention and girl child empowerment, we had the privilege of collaborating with the Sub-divisional Delegation of Women Empowerment and the Family. We had the honor of addressing the women of the Bonjongo Court Area during their International Women's Day gathering, and the atmosphere was absolutely electric.
Our message was intentional and clear:
Firstly, Teenage pregnancy does not begin and end at the school gate, it is a community conversation, and as women, we are at the center of it.
Secondly, mothers are the FIRST mentors of the next generation and the FIRST guardians of the girl child's rights.
Lastly, the leaders of tomorrow are shaped by the women of today, so we must all swing into action.
We then called on all community women present, to take intentional, conscious action in grooming and protecting the girls in their homes and communities, and not be silent, because when a woman is informed and empowered, she multiplies that power in everyone around her.
The turnout, the energy, and the hearts open to receive this message made this one of the most memorable outreaches yet.
We at Hearts That Bind Foundation , express deep and sincere gratitude to Mami Delegate and the entire staff of the Sub-divisional Delegation of Women Empowerment and the Family Buea, for this collaboration and for creating a space where this conversation could happen. Together, we are building communities that refuse to leave their daughters behind.
Thumps up to every woman doing the quiet, powerful work of raising the next generation.
The work continues.
