👶 Did You Know?

During some births, a baby's shoulder can become temporarily stuck after the head has been delivered. This is known as shoulder dystocia.

Although it is a childbirth emergency, trained healthcare professionals use specific techniques to help safely deliver the baby and reduce risks for both mother and child.

🤱 This is why skilled care during labor and delivery is so important.

Some impacts are best measured not by numbers, but by the stories of the people whose lives have been transformed.

One of the beneficiaries of our Maternal Health Project in Matoh Community recently shared her experience while holding the healthy baby she safely delivered through the project.

She recounted arriving at the health facility with little or no money, only to learn that antenatal care, essential medications, and maternal health services were provided free of charge through the support of Berine and Bokwe Foundation.

Reflecting on her journey, she expressed heartfelt gratitude, sharing that without this intervention, she was uncertain she would have received the care and support needed for a safe delivery.

Her story is a powerful reminder that when financial barriers are removed, mothers can access lifesaving care and babies can have a healthier start to life.

At Berine and Bokwe Foundation, we remain committed to ensuring that every mother has the opportunity to experience a safe pregnancy and childbirth with dignity and quality care.

Some moments speak louder than any report, statistic, or presentation.

Recently, the Chief of Bureau of Health (CBH) of Konye Health District stood among beneficiaries to express heartfelt gratitude to BEBOF and Grand Challenges Canada for the support that has brought hope, improved access to care, and positively impacted lives within the community.

But it was one unexpected moment that truly captured the reality on the ground.

As words of appreciation were being shared, the entire crowd spontaneously joined in with a powerful chorus of gratitude—thanking our funders for standing with them. Then came a message that resonated deeply across the gathering: "Please don't leave us."

It was more than a plea. It was a reflection of the value these interventions have brought to vulnerable communities and a reminder that the journey toward better health outcomes is not yet complete.

At BEBOF, we are humbled by the trust communities place in us and grateful to Grand Challenges Canada for making this impact possible. Together, we continue working toward sustainable solutions that leave no one behind.

🌼 You begin to bloom when you help those around you grow. 🌼

At Berine and Bokwe Foundation (BEBOF), we witness this truth every day through the lives of the mothers, children, and families we serve.

When we support expectant mothers with health education, encourage safe maternal care, and work alongside communities to improve access to essential services, we are doing more than providing support. We are helping families grow stronger and healthier.

A healthy mother means a healthier child. A healthier child means a stronger future for the entire community.

Every act of care, every piece of knowledge shared, and every hand extended in support helps someone else bloom. In the process, we grow too as individuals, as communities, and as a society.

Together, we are nurturing hope, promoting safe motherhood, and creating opportunities for families to thrive.

Every meal begins with a seed, but behind every harvest is knowledge, commitment, and a community working together.

Through our Regenerative Agriculture Project in Matoh, we are empowering farmers especially women and local farming groups with the tools, training, and resources needed to cultivate healthy soils, increase food production, and build sustainable livelihoods. From nurturing seedlings in community nurseries to preparing fields for planting, every step is part of a larger journey toward food security and environmental restoration.

By embracing regenerative farming practices, we are not only growing crops; we are restoring the land, improving biodiversity, strengthening resilience to climate change, and creating opportunities for future generations.

The seedlings you see today represent more than plants; they represent hope, self-reliance, and the promise of a better tomorrow for families across Matoh.

🌸 Menstrual Hygiene Matters 🌸

Today, on Menstrual Hygiene Day, we join the global movement to promote awareness, dignity, and access to proper menstrual health and hygiene for every girl and young woman.

In collaboration with our valued partners, Berine and Bokwe Foundation recently carried out sensitization activities in schools and communities, where young girls were educated on:
✨ Proper menstrual hygiene practices
✨ Breaking myths and stigma surrounding menstruation
✨ Building confidence and self-esteem
✨ The importance of menstrual health education and personal hygiene

As part of this initiative, sanitary pads and personal hygiene supplies were also distributed to support the girls and encourage healthy menstrual hygiene management.

This outreach reflects the power of partnership and collective action in creating informed, safe, and supportive spaces where girls can thrive with confidence and dignity.

Together, we can continue to break the silence, end the stigma, and build healthier communities. ??

Reaching underserved and hard-to-access communities with the support they deserve remains at the heart of our mission at Berine and Bokwe Foundation.

Through our maternal health outreach in Matoh, we continue to support women and families with vital health education and maternal care awareness.

We are determined to spearhead this initiative to other communities that may still be facing daily challenges in accessing essential maternal healthcare services, because every mother deserves safe, dignified, and quality care.
