A Glimpse Into the Impact We’re Creating in Matoh !!

What happens when communities are given the knowledge, tools, and support to embrace more sustainable and regenerative ways of farming?

This short excerpt from BEBOF’s Regenerative Agriculture Project Impact Assessment in Matoh offers a glimpse into the journey so far highlighting the experiences, impact, and heartfelt reflections of some of the beneficiaries we have had the privilege of working with.

It takes more than a classroom to build peace. It takes dialogue, understanding, and empowered young people.

Through our Classroom as a Vector of Peace Project, we engaged approximately 30–45 students in meaningful and interactive conversations on peaceful coexistence, personal growth, and their role in building a more peaceful society.

At a time when our society is witnessing increasing violence and conflict, initiatives like this are more important than ever. By equipping young people with the values of dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence, we are helping to nurture a generation that can become agents of peace and positive change.

Hello, September!

As we begin this new month, the Berine and Bokwe Foundation (BEBOF) wishes our partners, supporters, followers, and the entire BEBOF family a peaceful, productive, and fulfilling month ahead.

As we embrace a new month, we must also reflect on the growing cases of violence against women and girls in our communities.

Femicide is real. Violence is not love, and silence cannot continue to protect abuse.

At BEBOF, we stand for the dignity, rights, safety, and empowerment of women and girls. Being a feminist does not mean hating men; it means believing that every woman and girl deserves to live safely, freely, and with dignity.

This September, let us speak up, challenge violence, and choose a safer and more equal society for all.

The rising cases of femicide in Cameroon are deeply disturbing and demand urgent action. BEBOF strongly condemns violence against women and calls for perpetrators to be investigated, arrested and brought to justice.

We cannot remain silent while women continue to lose their lives to violence.

What kind of values are we teaching the generation that will shape our future?

It is often said that “teach a child good values, and they will not depart from them when they are grown.”

At a time when our society continues to witness femicide, bullying, hate speech, gender-based violence and other forms of violence, teaching children and young people about peace, respect and empathy has never been more important.

This is why Berine and Bokwe Foundation (BEBOF) is committed to building a generation that understands the value of peaceful coexistence and knows that violence is never the answer.

Through our “The Classroom as a Vector for Peace” project, we engage students in meaningful conversations and activities on peacebuilding, respect, tolerance, bullying, hate speech and responsible communication.

Because preventing violence starts long before violence happens. It starts with the values we teach our children today.

How many more women must lose their lives before we recognize that Gender-Based Violence is a crisis that demands urgent action?

Across Cameroon, reports of women being killed in circumstances linked to violence against women continue to raise serious concern. Behind every number is a woman, a daughter, a mother, a sister, a colleague, a friend, a life that mattered.

Femicide is not simply about individual cases. It forces us to confront the deeper realities of violence, inequality, harmful attitudes, and the failure to adequately protect women and girls.

At Berine and Bokwe Foundation (BEBOF), we believe that women should not have to live in fear of violence. Every woman deserves safety, dignity, protection, and the freedom to live without the threat of violence.

We cannot afford to remain silent.

We must speak against violence.
We must support survivors.
We must strengthen prevention and protection.
We must demand accountability.
And above all, we must stop normalizing violence against women.

Sometimes, progress is best understood when we can see it.

These photos capture a simple but meaningful transformation from our Regenerative Agriculture Project in Matoh. From small piglets at the beginning to visibly stronger and bigger pigs today.

Beyond the growth we see in these pictures is the commitment of community members who continue to learn, care for, feed and manage the pigs as part of the project.

For us, this is more than just pig farming. It is about building knowledge, strengthening livelihoods and supporting communities to develop sustainable agricultural practices.

Small beginnings can lead to meaningful growth when communities are given the opportunity, knowledge, and support to thrive.

📢 A NEW MILESTONE FOR BEBOF!

We are thrilled to announce that the Berine and Bokwe Foundation (BEBOF) has been granted Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

On 21 July 2026, ECOSOC adopted the recommendation to grant BEBOF this status marking a significant milestone in our commitment to sustainable development, community empowerment, peace, health, education, and amplifying the voices of underserved communities.

This recognition opens new opportunities for BEBOF to engage with relevant UN sessions, events and consultations, and to contribute to global conversations on issues within our areas of expertise.

This is more than a title. It is a responsibility, an opportunity, and a new chapter.

When You See the Growth, You Know the Work Is Paying Off !

Yesterday, our team visited Matoh as part of our ongoing Regenerative Agriculture and Livestock Project to check on our pig farm and what we saw was truly encouraging.

During our visit, we also saw community members actively involved in preparing feed and feeding the pigs. This is a reflection of growing community participation and ownership of the initiative. Something that makes the progress even more meaningful.

The pigs have grown significantly, and seeing this progress firsthand was incredibly fulfilling. What started as an effort to promote sustainable agriculture and strengthen livelihoods is gradually becoming something we can see and experience within the community.

For us, it is more than just seeing bigger pigs. It represents growth, commitment, learning, and new possibilities for the farmers involved.

And behind this progress is a team that continues to show up, monitor, learn, and work alongside the community.

We are also grateful to One Day’s Wages for their support towards this initiative. Partnerships like these help make it possible to turn ideas into practical opportunities and sustainable livelihoods for communities.

We are proud of how far we have come—and excited about what is still ahead.
