Today, on Menstrual Hygiene Day, we are reminded that menstrual health is not just about periods ,it is about dignity, education, confidence, and equal opportunities for every girl.

At She Is Strength (SIS), we remain committed to breaking stigma, educating young people, and creating safe spaces for menstrual health conversations.

On Friday, we successfully carried out the Pads With Pride Campaign at GHS Bokova, creating a safe space for students to learn, ask questions, and openly discuss menstrual hygiene and puberty.

One of the most impactful parts of this campaign was involving boys in the conversation because breaking menstrual stigma starts with education, understanding, and inclusion.

Through interactive activities, menstrual cycle tracking sessions, pad demonstrations, and open discussions, students were reminded that menstruation is natural and that every girl deserves dignity, confidence, and support.

We are grateful to everyone who supported this initiative and helped us make a difference in the lives of these young students.
Together, we continue to break the silence and empower the next generation.

Join us this Menstrual Hygiene Month as She Is Strength (SIS) launches the Pads With Pride Campaign đź’ś

This year, we are creating a safe and inclusive space where both girls and boys can learn, ask questions, and openly discuss menstrual hygiene, puberty, stigma, and support.

Through this campaign, students will be educated on:
✨ Proper menstrual hygiene practices
✨ Puberty and body awareness
✨ Breaking myths and stigma around menstruation
✨ how to calculate the menstrual cycle

We will also be distributing sanitary pads to girls in need because no girl should miss school or feel ashamed because of her period.

đź©· You can be part of this impact.
1 Pad = 500 FCFA
Your support will help a girl stay confident, comfortable, and focused in school.

Over the past two weeks, two of our team members Helen Ayong@janet had the opportunity to participate in the Mastering Strategic Fundraising & Grant Winning Positioning class organized by@GARE

This experience has strengthened our capacity to position our work, tell our story more effectively, and unlock opportunities that will help us impact even more girls across our communities.

A special thank you to Sakwe Noris for creating and extending this opportunity to us. Your support continues to shape the future of organizations like ours.

On Friday, we were in the Bokwai community conducting a field assessment as part of preparations for our upcoming BLOOM Project — an initiative by She Is Strength Organization focused on supporting girls as they navigate puberty.

When adolescent girls are given the opportunity to share their experiences, important realities come to light.

What we found was both insightful and revealing:
• Some girls have limited understanding of puberty and the changes it brings
• Access to menstrual hygiene products is not consistent for all
• Several are navigating this stage with low confidence and little guidance

Yet, one thing stood out clearly — their willingness to learn.
This highlights a key gap: not a lack of interest, but a lack of access to the right information and support.
Through the BLOOM Project, we aim to change that.

Let’s talk puberty!!!

Puberty is often treated as a phase girls are expected to “figure out” on their own.
But the truth is — it is one of the most defining stages of their lives.

It is during this time that many girls begin to:
• Form beliefs about their bodies
• Build (or lose) confidence
• Understand relationships
• Face peer pressure for the first time

Yet, for many, this stage comes with silence, confusion, and misinformation.
When girls are not properly guided through puberty, the consequences go beyond physical health. It affects their self-esteem, their decisions, and in many cases, their future.

Puberty education is not just about biology.
It is about confidence.
It is about awareness.
It is about helping a girl understand her worth before the world tries to define it for her.

We are excited to introduce our new initiative: The Bloom Project 🌸

The Bloom Project is a mentorship and education program designed to support girls as they transition through puberty — one of the most delicate and formative stages of their lives.

For many girls, this period comes with questions, emotional changes, and social pressures, yet it is often navigated without adequate guidance or safe spaces for conversation.

Through this project, we aim to create supportive environments where girls can learn about puberty, build confidence, understand healthy boundaries, and develop leadership skills early in life.

We look forward to collaborating with schools, community organizations, and partners who share this vision.

Happy International Women’s Day to every woman and girl who dares to dream, lead, and rise.

Educating girls is not charity. It is strategy.
When a girl is educated, she earns more, leads more, and contributes more to her community and economy.
She becomes a decision-maker, not just a participant.
If we are serious about sustainable development, we must be serious about educating girls.
Investing in girls’ education is investing in leadership, innovation, and generational transformation.
